Re: Bringing wine in from overseas trip
Hi Andy and quertt, Thanks for your replies. What I meant was the following scenario: Traveling back from Europe my wife and I could bring back to Australia 2x3 bottles of wine which equates to 4.5 liters assuming standard bottle size of 0.75 l. The bottles would travel of course in our main luggag...

Re: Bringing wine in from overseas trip
Hi Andy, Normally, I only bring in 2 dozen, would love to bring more, but I always transit in Singapore. Which is a hassle Very good point. I'd like t bring back some wine from my next trip to Europe but I will probably stay a few days in Singapore on my way back. Lets say I have 6 bottles (me and ...

Re: Bringing wine in from overseas trip
be prepared to pay around 49% on top of the receipt, the first 3 bottles tax free scenario doesn't apply as a whole. Cheers Andy I bring in 60+ bottles twice a year, and sadly, that 49% is the rate they charge... Instead of picking up luggage, your trolley is full of 5 cases of wines, like your sty...
Thanks for the further input guys. I was looking at the Belle Epoque Andy, which I personally really like, but it just doesn't have the same cachet amongst the uninitiated as the DP Can't agree with you more. I hope you have/ will source out some Belle Epoque for the cellar ...

Re: 2004 celebrations
For a white I would certainly run with the 2004 LEAS Chardonnay as well. Should be available thru auction, depending on your timing. Or perhaps Pierro - virtually as good. Hoddles Creek, maybe hard to find. another + 1 on the LEAS, even better if you can source magnum, provenance is important Bottl...

Re: 2004 celebrations
At the moment I am looking at starting with 2004 Dom Perignon as the champagne, because, well, it is readily available and will impress people. However, in terms of recognisable labels at around $200 or under, I also see Veuve, Lanson, Moet, Bollinger la grand amee, Louis Roederer and Laurent Perri...

Re: Bringing wine in from overseas trip
Keep the receipt and declare it at custom, if your friend is lucky, he will be let through without a glance. If not, be prepared to pay around 49% on top of the receipt, the first 3 bottles tax free scenario doesn't apply as a whole. So my advice, always buy wines that is worthwhile, and even after ...

Re: What to do with box and paper wrap?
Hey Timnit,
I assume when you said cabinet, will be as in wine cabinet/fridge. If this is the case, just keep the paper wrap, easier to store and less space taken by the
box itself.
If only a normal cabinet and you have the space, keep the box and all, easier to identify later on
Cheers

Has anyone else started receiving emails from retailers offering pre-sale on the upcoming Icon Releases? The 2010 St Henri seems to be getting some strong reviews including 100 points from Andrew Caillard MW. It's been offered at $85/bottle - what are your thoughts on the price point? At that price...

I would suggest looking at Brand's Laira as well Cheers Andy
Agree. Re: Bordeaux en primeur 2013
I think for the 2013 vintage, regardless of the EP price, it would be better to wait for the wines to hit the retail shelves, unless you are keeping a vertical on Lafite and such... Then buy a bottle or two to try, before taking the plunge. I my self will be staying away from the vintage, or bordeau...

6 x 2007 Pierre Peters Les Chetillons. I actually wanted to skip this vintage, but given the likely demand for the 2008 next year, buying previous vintages may stand me in good stead to get some. I will be doing the same thing as well... Things we do for great champers At least the '07 can be enjoy...

Hi Scott, totally agree with Mike and Tim re : Champagne.
