Re: Red wine from the fridge
One of my evening summer reds is a simple beaujolais from the fridge. Let it sit out for 15 min then pour. It does warm up in the glass anyway due to the heat, but it's quite fascinating tasting it evolve in the glass as it warms up.

Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight
I’ve got a fair bit of Rudi Pichler in the cellar. Glad you enjoyed the wine as I struggle to find folks in Australia who enjoy Austrian Riesling. The age is what confused me a bit. At first I thought it was from Alsace, but the weight and texture wasn't right. I think my first Austrian - would hav...

2002 Rockford BP, very bright colour, lovely savoury spicy nose, bright core of dark fruits, leading to a strong firm finish. Very good bottle with a good cork. Another 5-10 years methinks. 2016 Yalumba Menzies deep black colour, nose of blue black fruits great mouth feel with a delicate finish. Cl...

I’ve got all those Italians in the cellar Roscoe. Some magnum. Caught on nice and early. Prices sill now . 2008 is a classical and underrated Barolo vintage. Was planing to open a Cappellano soon. I loved the completeness of Elio Grasso on release . Cheers Jamie, hope one of those magnums isn't for...

Re: November 2024 Purchases
The ‘19 Cirillo Semillon is a stunner. Sees no oak and while it’s so good to drink now, it will age for years and years under stelvin. I’ve (I should say the wife) already gone through a 6 pack and this was a bit of a restock to drink now over the summer. I’ve put another 6 pack away for a long sle...

I have found 99 is a very underrated year in Barossa. Some magnificent wines were made that are ageing very gracefully.JamieAdelaide wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:05 pm Yep had a 99 magnum with the 96 and the 99 a rip snorter!

What a wonderful evening! Thank you for the notes and pics
A couple of years ago had the 2005 of the Rockford SVS Hoffman Shiraz. Had the exact same notes!
Do they even make any more of the single vineyard wines ?

Wife and I love our fortifieds as well. Have had a 20L Barossa tawny and 15L Rutherglen Muscat barrel going for about 30 years. We were planning a trip from SA to Rutherglen next year with one of the main interests being Vintage Port. Did you visit Chambers, Pfeiffer, Stanton & Killeen and Bail...

We had the '96 Yattarna last year at Entocca Boccacio and it was simply stunning. When we first opened it, we thought it was stuffed. But 30 minutes after opening, it was amazing. Being under cork it's a bit of a lottery, but without doubt the best wine I had last year. Totally blew away '96 Leeuwi...

Second last tasting in the Festival of Birthday, or "FestiMal". Some oldies from the cellar. All looked good, Grange and 707 were exceptional, Bin128 was surprisingly good, I threw in the Seaview as a bit of a curio, but it was still holding up. The St Henri wasn't the best bottle I've ha...

WDC Yellow Hammerhill Shiraz Malbec 2022. This is superb, like a silky cuddly blanket generous fruit, great depth, Malbec really brings everything together, and the 5% Cabernet gives a nice freshness. Long palate, finest tannins, super smooth and carries the 15.2% easily. A definite nod to Tony Bra...
