Re: Jura recommendations

Some excellent recommendations above. The ones I would highlight are Labet (esp single parcel Chardonnay), Ganevat (despite high prices) Macle (esp. Cötes du Jura), Bénédicte et Stéphane / André et Mireille Tissot (accept no substitute Tissot!). Don't overlook Domaine de la Tournelle. Pélican is imp...

I ended up drinking a 2004 Rockford BP instead

That was surprisingly disappointing. I really enjoyed the last one I had, this one not so :?
I opened a bottle of BP ‘04 6 months & it was very disappointing. Two previous bottles had been tip-top.

I have some ‘04s & I’m in no rush to open one.
Frustratingly missed the ‘10s on release & the price has subsequently shot up.

Re: Trip to France - recommendations

Beaune definitely better than Dijon, if wine is the focus. Excellent rail connections. Uber? Not a chance. Taxis - unreliable, along with limited bus services. Therefore, if you wish to visit the villages of Côte d’Or car hire best, though there are ‘guided tours’. Plenty of the large negociants in ...

Benjamin Passot a youngster making Juliénas ‘17 & ‘18 (his first vintages) from his own (inherited) vineyards. He has some Morgon coming on stream next year.
And a first Aligoté ‘18 ‘1953’ from Patrick Piuze of Chablis.

15 years ago Pétrus ‘81. All these years on still yet to pay more, despite purchasing a Vega Sicilia ‘60, fairly recently.
And one that got away: Romanée-Conti ‘90 for £500, on release. Our children needed feeding & clothing.
