Re: Brisbane Offline 25 Oct 2024 - e'cco bistro

I think there was a lot of commentary on the forums the Moorooroo was developing very early. This was in the early 2000’s! I recall the wine being better than that though I can’t be sure. So long ago! The other two should be good though certainly peaking. I had a magnum of Rockford Basket Press 199...

Another great night night with great people. Janine made a mistake picking the SVS as WOTY, she claims she got flustered but has since told me she liked the LEAS Cabernet. As Michael said the Hoffmann SVS was very porty. My US Grenache was pretty ordinary too. All the other wines were superb. I real...

The 2021 reds were sensational across the range when tasted at the Cellar Door in April. Insane QPR. Have also bought a fair bit of the London Calling. Cheers Michael Thought you might have bought a bit of the YNWA stuff…. Speaking of, I’m at Anfield on Boxing Day…. Lucky you, I'm very je...

12 x 2021 Claymore Bitter Sweet Symphony Cabernet Claymore are producing some excellent wines. I am a fan of the London Calling Cab/Malbec with its medium bodied/mid-weight palate. The Dark Side of the Moon Shiraz is a regular mid-weeker at our house. The 2021 and the new 2022 release are very good...

I haven’t had a Chardonnay this old before…. Great colour on it. It’s definitely tertiary. Stone fruit, bit of zest, wood shop, saw dust. It’s an interesting wine. Cheers Ed We had the '96 Yattarna last year at Entocca Boccacio and it was simply stunning. When we first opened it, we thought it was ...

2010 Noon Shiraz, very good wine, opened with a bit of a sweet note, a little porty to begin with perhaps, but thought it handled the 14.7% with ease. As it opened up it really shone...plush, full bodied and a great finish. Will have a look at another soon. 2013 Gomersal Reserve Shiraz, actually ca...

Re: 2024 Wendouree Mailer

I got everything I ordered bar the 24b Shiraz which is of course disappointing. I only order as Wendouree is my wife's favourite winery. She's given me a spray for not getting the order form back quicker, but I really don't think it matters when you send the form back.... There really is no rhyme or...

What I have done is buy a wine cube (similar to your photo but only 30 bottles) that comes unassembled and plan to just copy it. I have all the tools required (table saw, drop saw and nail guns etc), so for me it will be fairly simple and I can pretty much make it whatever size I want. Just need to ...

At restaurants while in Melbourne…. 2023 Bulman Gary’s Grenache. Blewitt Springs. Stunning, just stunning. Nose is beguiling and palate follows suit. Last glass the best. Have 3 in the cellar and immediately ordered 3 more. Best Grenache I’ve had this year and I drink quite a bit of it. Can’t wait t...

I agree on the whole with regard to certain poor vintages, but there are always a few gems even from poor vintages. One thing I respect some wineries for is when they don't release a wine from certain vintages they don't think is good enough to put there usual label on. I didn't buy much 2011, but I...

I ordered 3 of each.

We have decided the Standish, Sami Odi, Eperosa, Rockford and Agricola will be pretty much our must buy Barossa Shiraz's every year from now on.

I seem to be buying more Grenache, Chardonnay and foreign muck these days than Shiraz....

Can't remember which year it was, but he didn't release any wines because of the issues he had within the winery.
It was 2016 and it wasn’t a hygiene problem. It was the first year Brett moved into his new winery and none of his ferments took except for one.

Re: Eperosa 2017 Magnolia Shiraz - too much Brett

I tried the 2017 at the winery with Brett and can't recall any brett in any of the wines. That's not to say it isn't in your wines, but I'm normally quite intolerant of brett.

Which Magnolia are you talking about? The 1965 or the 1896?

I know $125 is a lot of money for a bottle of Barossa Shiraz, but when you compare the quality of Dan's wines to many others at similar and higher price points it becomes a bit of a bargain. I have been going to the Barossa a couple of times a year for over 20 years and I can't think of a better ran...

I’ve been to most of the wineries around the Barnbougle golf course and the pick for me was Sinapius. None of the others really impressed me though Pipers Brook was probably the next best.

Stoney Rise would surely be worth a visit. The Holyman Chardonnay is one of the best from Tasmania.
