The white seal is called a wad (Saranex) and is made up of different types of plastics. Should be fine for wine up to 5 years. For wines which you want to cellar longer, the winery should have used a tin-saran (silver) wadding. These should be fine for up to 10 years. The "rust" is probabl...

Organic Wines

I was offered a bottle over the week-end as a present. Tried it last night and I'm really not that impressed. Very hard tannins...and maybe it is the wine making style, but I have heard a lot of people preferring organic wines, but I have yet to find one I like.

I know this is a pretty old post, but it caught my attention, because we live in Griffith and we're both in the wine industry. Wineries with their own bottling faccilities are: Warburn, Beelgara, De Bortoli, Casella and Westend McWilliams are still considering bringing back their bottling faccility ...

You don't have to fork out for Cognac or Armagnac to enjoy good Brandy. Being South African, I am obviously pro KWV, but there are a couple of other very good brands around as well. Vintage in brandy sense is more the age, than the year it was harvested/made. If you get a brandy which says 10 or 15 ...
