My 2008 Dry Dam Riesling!

TN: 2008 d`Arenberg Riesling The Dry Dam, McLaren Vale. One local store last year brought in one 6-pack, $33 Cdn which I consider a reasonable price. Since then I have come across the `11 and the recent `15 vintage for around $22 more or less. Always a fan of this outfit so after a couple of emails...

Nice note, always fun to see a Mosel TN. I have not bothered in the past to post any as i thought no-one would be interested :( .
I would sure cellar for a while but that is my custom for Germany.

I opened a Yalumba "Y" series Viognier to watch the cricket highlights. Hope you all had a nice bottle of wine too as England crumbled. Not too worry, I am going to stock up as we win the next 4!!!

Oregon PN is not cheap by any means but worth looking out for. Pinot Gris is doing well there imo.

TN: 2007 Grosset Riesling Springvale.

TN: 2007 Grosset Riesling Springvale. SC, $24 Cdn, opened one hour, 13.5% alc. My bottle this weekend had some nutty tone on the nose, plus gasolein, lime and minerals. Colour was a medium lemon green but more depth on day 2. Dry, mineral entry, good mid-palate and has held up very well. "Defi...

Had a wonderful evening at a new Chinese restaurant with some pals from the Yukon. I was allowed to bring in 2 German wines that I had previously enjoyed at a recent Xmas staff party! `08 Emrich Schonleber Monzinger Holenberg Riesling R (Nahe). Went quite well with Peking Duck courses. Medium lemon ...

There are a number of good Jumilla wines here in my area but one has to watch out for the non-traditional fruit bombs. This one seems way to baked imo.

Puss puss....The Cenosilicaphobic Cat.

Growing up, fourth generation winemaker, Chester Osborn, had a large ginger cat with blood shot eyes named Non Alcoholic Booze. In typical Australian fashion this was shortened to Booze after he was caught cleaning up a small red wine spill with his tongue. He developed quite a taste for red after ...

Re: Getting into French wine

I agree with Dingo maybe look to Beaujolais and Cote du Rhone wines for good value French. Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone is about $18-$20 a bottle and is a great drop for the money. For whites look to Chablis instead of Burgundy, and Loire for Vouvrays (Chenin Blanc) which are always a good qpr win...

My `06 Mesh Riesling was a bust. Nose so-so, but poor mid-palate and weird finish. Poor storage somewhere, on the other hand surely not closed down?

Last night I opened the `02 Tahbilk Marsanne and found it to have peaked which was a disappointment. Storage was in Kentucky but think OK. Pity.

Ooops, I might be in wrong thread. LOL.
