Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Vineyard Merlot Vintages 2000 and 2001

Folks,

Has anyone tasted either of the above in recent years?

If so, mind volunteering a tasting impression or notes?

Re: Non-slated shelves for wine fridges - some issues

Tom, They'd have to be a difference in distribution of temperatures between vertical and horizontally stored wines for convection to be related to any differential aging. I guess there's more surface area for bottles laying down [wider area, shallower depth of air]. But for a wine fridge seldom open...

Non-slated shelves for wine fridges - some issues

Guys, Thought I'd mention I'm getting a friend to make me flat [non-slated] shelves for my wine fridges [one a multi-zone 'serving fridge']. As is my preference, most of my wines are Stelvin-sealed. Storing such wines upright improves visibility of each bottle, gives far easier access, and is much m...

Cameron

Should be fine I'd say and exceed the time most of us give to stand a bottle upright.

Re: A Call to Wine Lovers near Bacchus Marsh VIC

Cameron,

Delighted to have a commuter come from Rotterdam to my Bacchus Marsh tastings. Well worth it.

Turn right at Singapore and it's the 967,413th place on your left. No need to bring any smelly cheese.

A Call to Wine Lovers near Bacchus Marsh VIC

Hi Guys, I moved to Bacchus Marsh seven months ago. I'd love to find some local wine lovers for sharing terrific wine and (questionable?) conversations in this 'neck of the woods'. I'm sure we'd welcome both those new on the pathway from liking wine to being fascinated by wine, as well as my fellow ...

Re: Invitation to taste aged wines - Southbank, Melbourne

Oh, and the 2004 St Hugo was very good tonight after 24 hours in the fridge. That's my standard indicator of at least two years left at equivalent quality of drinking - and I do mean, at least two years.

Re: Invitation to taste aged wines - Southbank, Melbourne

Two day's after initial opening both Rieslings retained their characters as described by Cameron. I agree that the Frogmore 2008 is elite white even among a peer group of 8-14 year old Rieslings I've been tasting in recent months. Similarly, the Seppelt's piercing acidity after two days supports the...

Re: Invitation to taste aged wines - Southbank, Melbourne

Thanks Tom and MyChurch Let's set a date the three of us can get together. And a focus [not a theme] will on my samples on hand - thus aged Cab Sav, Riesling and Chardonnays. Just informal - cheese, bread, nibbles and conversation. You're right MyChurch, we enthusiasts love to contribute out of our ...

Re: Invitation to taste aged wines - Southbank, Melbourne

Thanks you Michael and 'Poly'. I'm hoping this post attracts ad hoc opportunities to taste my current batch. I'm also taking the opportunity give away part bottles rather than be constantly inebriated for several months. Michael, please do drop by anytime. I'm retired now and my time is very open. I...

Invitation to taste aged wines - Southbank, Melbourne

Guys, Help me out please to taste progressively a large collection of aged wines. I'm based in Southbank, Melbourne. Why not make suggestions here for get togethers at nearby places [we'd find a BYO] or at my apartment [bread and cheese occasions]. I've been travelling a lot in recent years. Now set...

Melbourne offline - wines of the Americas 26 April

Hi All,

Some of our usual crew from Auswine of Melbourne offliners are dining at the Moat, Little Lonsdale Street on 26 April.

The theme is wines from the Americas: USA, North, South and Central America, generally.

We have plenty of vacancies for this one, so sing out if you're interested.
