1999 Moppa Springs way too confectionary for my taste Hi Brett, FWIW, here is my TN Rockford 1999 Moppa Springs GSM (May 2003) sells for $21.50 at CD. A lifted but elegant bouquet translates to a palate of initial sweet raspberry that instantly turns intensely savoury with strong black pepper and a...

Rocky Questions
Hi all A couple of Rockfords questions. Firstly I have a few black shiraz (i think from different disgorgements) well a number bought years apart anyway. Is there any way to tell from the bottle what year disgorgement they are. Would be helpful when working out how long to keep. Secondly I have a co...

Well all it seems that Brad is right. I have not contacted the winery in question. instead after Brad's comments i spoke to a couple of my lectureres (also local winemakers) and they advised me caveat emptor. the theory is right that the wine was sold with H2S in it and that it is not a random fault...

I agree with Torb, if H2S is bottled into wine, then with time in reductive conditions this will become Mercaptans which will bind into the wine. However once exposed to oxygen the reaction can go back the other way. From memory the threshold to Mercaptan is a lot higher than H2S? Any way i will rin...

H2S Faults
Recently i have opened a few reds (under cork) that have had real stinky H2S issues. some have blown off but others must have become mercaptan bound and not blowing off at all even over 24 hours. What do you guys & girls do when you get a wine like this? Do you follow it up the same way you woul...

I have had some luck with female friends and family in the past with Grant Burge Hillcott Merlot personally i dont like Aussie merlots much but this one is very light. also cheap $14.00 Some of the red sparklings on the market while not medium bodied give that impression due to residual sugar. Not sure if should buy into this one or not? Some interesting points raised. I particularly agree with TORB in regards to the AU$ being artificially held low for many years. It is reasonably common knowledge that with a rise in official interest rates the dollar strengthens, therefore if we get anot...

recently had a bordeaux style tasting at a guy from uni's place. The 2nd was Eros...
