May your love Grove
May your love Grove I am sure that there are readers here who have drunk certain wines from a particular producer year after year and somehow felt a deep connection with the land and producer, and enjoyed the wines even in lesser vintages. This type of connection is almost spiritual and there are c...

1956 MEMORIAL LUNCH - October 22, 2012
1956 MEMORIAL LUNCH - October 22, 2012 Four of us gathered for lunch in Sydney, Australia to celebrate the 56th anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian uprising against Soviet rule. The events of those days are very important for me as both my grandparents joined the uprising, albeit on opposite sides. I...

Great Australians in Budapest
Great Australians in Budapest A small tasting group of 12 serious Hungarian wine lovers gathered with excitement in Budapest to taste some really good Australian wines. Once again, a superb line up delivered above expectations. Here are my short notes: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4...

SWEET GLORY - The delicious wines of Fiumara
SWEET GLORY - The delicious wines of Fiumara It’s easy to reach out for a full bodied Barossa red or a fragrant Mornington Pinot Noir in this cool weather. It seems, nowadays it is much harder to drink sweet dessert wines but after I saw Huon Hooke give 96 points to one of the Lillypilly win...

No, 2004 didn't do it for me. Yes, 2005 is superb. Based on your notes, 2008 should also be fabulous. I'll check it out.

Sure, really good wine. Scored it 93 points, at $16 it is a steal. The 2008 was less good.
Your tasting note is spot on.

Attila

Miracle on Castlereagh Street - Chateau Tanunda Tasting To be exact, the miracle took place in The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel where the Chateau Tanunda tasting was held on the 22nd of February. BUTTLER and PARIS VS the HUNTER
BUTTLER and PARIS VS the HUNTER It was a warm Thursday night in February when three of us gathered in a quiet Sydney suburb to taste a line up of fine Hunter Valley new releases from the 2009 vintage. Our focus was on Shiraz with two European terroir driven Syrah thrown into the mix. One of them was...

Amazing Australian sparkling- Part 3.
2007 CHANDON Vintage Brut-Victoria This may end up hugely unpopular with Chandon fans as it has nothing common with the creamy feel of previous vintages. This sparkling is very linear with pronounced lime and lemon zest flavours. The acid structure is tremendously high, but it will become the perfe...

2006 CLOVER HILL Blanc De Blancs “Cuvée Exceptionelleâ€Â-Tasmania This BDB is a step up from the also fine, softly ripe and complex 2006 vintage blend (93 pts). This of course, is 100% Chardonnay. Very clean nose with vigorous bubbles. Simply amazing palate, of exemplary precision, pur...

It was one of the great discoveries for me this year as I absolutely love Champagne. The intensity of it is quite amazing. The 2002 Moet is good too but the Fiacre is more exciting and original.

TN: 2009 TYRRELL"S Vat 1 Semillon-Hunter Valley
Had high expectations, this wine has been praised before. I am a big fan of Vat 1, the 1989 still resonates in my mind as one of the greatest aussie whites ever. It is now 20 years later, the 2009 is out. Slight hay with gold. Very clear, very bright. Cutrus, white fruits on the nose, somewhat reser...
