Clarendon Hills, Hickinbotham Grenache, 2001. I have not tried it, but I really do doubt this comes close to a good cdp. I have lost hope with Australian Grenache... it is what it is, but it is not Chateauneuf.... I wouldn't have reccomended it a few years ago but it has really come around. Also it...

A cheap eat in the hunter is a tough ask. You might try Harrogan's Pub, no great views but a good atmosphere. The Mill is nice and has a good view, mains around $30-35. Alternatively, pack a picnic, grab a bottle of wine and find a tree on a hill, it's a good way to watch the Hunter go by. Cheers HM

If you were wanting the tannin completly disolve, you probably shouldn't have bought Cabernet Sauvignon, or perhaps wait another 5yrs.
I've never seen heated storage conditions add (exaggerate) tannin in a wine. It usually softens it, but will also strip other elements of the wine.

I tried the Cullen DM 05 last week, bloody fantastic, it should fit the bill.

But at $90 a bottle if you can get Magnums at $150 I'll take a few cartons

So we are told the plane has a dodgy fuel gauge and it should be fixed in 2hrs, oh well no biggie we will be there soon. We leave Sydney 2 hours late, arrive in Perth only to be the last ones standing at the baggage collection with no luggage in site. We were told very politely “sorry the bagg...

Have you lost your nostalgic wine brain? Wine started comming in 750mL bottles because when glass bottles were blown, 750mL is basicly the capacity of your lungs i.e. one bottle per blow.

There's alot of hard yakka behind that 750mL size, so drink up you Spigin Huffta.

Re: Newbie: Thoughts on Hunter W/E

Stand out wineries in Hunter were: Meerea Park Brokenwood First Creek/Chatto Capercaillie Other notables: Tyrells Allendale Hungerford Hill (though most of their best were not Hunter wines!) *edits: I can't spell! I love Tyrrells and Capercaillie, Tyrrells make great old school hunter shiraz, other...

Yes it is a fault, but given time in bottle it should correct itself, I'm not sure what effect the screwcap would have on this, might stop the CO2 from disolving into the wine :?

Try Yarra Burn 03 it's around the $20 mark

I quite liked it, earthy, animal, sweaty aromas.
