Adair - my no. is 30 as a matter of coincidence. Although I didn't think that it was a sequential no. of the no. of members listed at that time, as I joined when Rockfords was already going for a few years - I joined in '87 I think.

Great notes Adair - although I did not agree with the Black Shiraz assessment. Maybe the bottle that we tasted from was too cold?? I too have a story that adds to the power of the service and quality of Rockfords. I was there on Friday (and Saturday) with my 19 year old son who really does not give ...

Rockford BP release
Tasted the Basket Press 2001 and recently disgorged Black shiraz on Saturday. The BP was probably the best that I have had in many years - very luscious, full flavoured and slippery, but balanced enough to drink right now. The Black Shiraz was very closed both on the nose and the palate. Also tried ...

Freycinet
Tom - now that is very interesting. When I offered to return the corked wine that I had, Claudio was not interested one bit. I even gave him detailed tasting notes of the Freycinet pinot compared to Hallidays notes. I am thinking that this guy is starting to feel the heat and is trying to squirm his...

Michel, I am interested to see how you go with your complaint. I have had the same experience myself with Freycinet - I spent over $65 for one bottle of 2001 pinot which was TCA affected and the response was in effect "bad luck and why not buy another and try again"!!! I ended up discussions saying ...

Your assessment of the 2000 vintage is correct. As it turned out two of our group could not find 2000 wines so they brought along a Sevenhill 1999 and a Pikes 1999. We tasted the wines "double blind" and the '99's just blitzed the 2000's - without exception. There was an expensive 2000 Clare c/s in ...

I thought the Enterprise was around the $50 mark, but I will check it out. Regarding the selection of 2000, it is because the host has an inexpensive bottle of 2000 Clare C/S and wants us to pick it from a line up of more expensive wine - ie can we pick a cheap wine from expensive wine. Not a very c...

Clare Valley 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
I have been invited to a masked tasting and the theme is "Cabernet Sauvignon from the Clare Valley - 2000 vintage" Price is between $25 - $30. I live in the Melbourne eastern suburbs and have looked around quite a few stores, but am having difficulty in locating a wine that fits the description and ...
