I've seen examples of this phenomenon previously, but none so clear as a bottle of LE Chard one night. Opened, corked - TCA. Inserted 'clean' cork from another bottle into the LE and left overnight. Next evening the LE had lost all signs of TCA. It happened like that - well, as best my memory recall...

While the actual money that is paid to Winestate may go to the magazine and the tasters not see anything it is appearance of money having changed hands to have a wine reviewed that is the problem. It renders the independence of both the magazine and the winery suspect and taints the tasting panel (...

I lean more to the registration side and I don't really care if there are many nom de plumes among them. I don't mind the 'guest' contributions really, but there is often a lack of tolerance to these guests when they can easily be ignored, and then it turns into an ugly brawl - very often. Not attra...

Whites are very good to excellent across the board. Most were in before dodgy rain and cold spells. You should be able to buy with confidence. Reds are a mixed affair, but way too early for specific assessments.

Two different arguments here - post-bottling shock and travel shock. What I class as bottle shock is really immediate post-bottling changes that Colin has already covered. It is not crap, although different circumstances can provide different impacts, and some not at all. The first sem sav (screwcap...

Spiffing stuff - had a couple of goes at this last week and reckon it's hard to beat at the price. Mind you, beach sunsets at Margaret River this time of year will always enhance the experience!

Enjoy!

NZ South Isle - Restaurants / Wine Bars request

Guys, any current recommendations for restaurants and wine bars in Christchurch, Queenstown and around Marlborough much appreciated.

Not five star silver service - simply great food, wine and ambience.

Thanks in advance.

1999's were pretty smart but if you need the power I'd go to 2001's. Mind you, another beauty from 1999 not mentioned was Amberley, 'though I don't know how it's travelling now.
