Re: Penfolds 2014 release - any takers?

It's been a long time between posts here for me but i will add my 2c Southcorp / Fosters / Treasury have all mismanaged this company to the point very few people are actually interested. The pricing from a retail perspective is OTT and quite frankly there is so much good wine out there I have not ev...

I'll be letting my Langtons subscription lapse. I've never paid a subscription, although I do buy and sell there a bit, I contacted them and explained I didn't think it was approriate to pay a subscription so I could pay them commissions on any sales or purchases. They have renewed my account witho...

I think you've made a great choice in the Stoniers Reserve 2003, had it recently with some BBQ King Duck and it was sensational. A remarkable wine. Also agree on the Barratt Reserve 2002, simply delicious!

At the very top end France is streets ahead. People who don't like hearing this should get out more (although we all have different tastes). Australia makes great Australian wines. No doubt. I agree with Croser we need to make more "very bloody special" wines. GW Wise words Gary Cheers Paul

P.S. I don't have any 1966 Grange and have no intension of doing so. If I had the money I would though. I reckon $500-$600 for this wine is very seriously undervalued. I'm with you - 2nd best Grange I've ever had after the 71. The 71 is sublime..i was lucky to be given 2 bottles of 71 (my birthyear...

I was referring to the regular Vic reserve shiraz..the Chalambar and St Peters are better still. It's all personal taste but the 15.5% alc in the lodge hill stands out to me..i prefer more restrained wines.Whatever rocks your boat! The Lodge Hill didn't rock mine.

Its hard to beat any of the Vic reserve/ Chalambar/ St Peters line in the quality for $$$$ stakes. The Chalambar probably wins out but all are awesome wines...lucky the yanks dont like our Victorian/cool ckimate shiraz!!!!

High alc wines will stand out out at big tastings..thus the wine at the London show..i still say it's good not great..and for my cheapskate palate there are much better wines..and yes the cool climate wines are different to the warmer areas..i was comparing more on price.

Baby Chickpea..you might want to reconsider that though i'm guessing it was a bit in jest...the Bekaa valley is a major cannabis growing area..far more famous for its hashish than its wine. It would not be a safe place for a westerner to visit without connections...you might find yourself in a whole...
