Adam-MS met RJP back in the early days on a computer system in the US called Prodigy. Once MS saw Parker's arse, he started kissing it and has continued for years. Even back then, if anyone dared to be critical of Parker, MS was there like Pavlov's dog, protecting his master. His reward-Parker gave ...

Blended Zin
My experience is that Zin blended with other grapes ages better, and carries the fruit longer, than wines that are all Zinfandel.

2006 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition
Since I know a lot of Aussie winemakers read this board, I hope the following note is not too far afield. The Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, held in San Bernardino, California, is in its 21st year. It normally draws over 2000 entries from all around the Pacific Rim. It is open to all Au...

The Other Parker Problem
The other problem is that Parker tastes unblind. If I may quote from a book review of the new Parker bio that I wrote (full copy is up on TORB's web site)" "What's in the book is top notch but I think McCoy omits some critical issues. Again and again she shows Parker tasting wines unblind, often in ...

Keep Him
If you chaps can figure out a way to keep him for a few months, many of us in the states would be deeply appreciative.

Even in Portugese Ports
We had an all port dinner. The peak was to be a 70 Taylor-Fladgate port. It was badly corked. You could smell it a foot away from the glass. I figure if one of the most famous Portugese producers can't get clean corks, then the rest of us are doomed.

Please Help: Finding an Australian Wine Judge
I think I had mentioned earlier that I've taken the position as director of the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition in Southern California . This show is in its 21st year and pulls about 2200 wines from the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. We have always had at least one big nam...

E Mail Address for Huon Hooke
I give up. I've spent an hour hunting on the web, to no avail. Can anyone kindly furnish me with a valid e mail address for Huon Hooke? Thanks in advance.

Directory of Australian Wineries?
I've just accepted a position as Director of the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition (or as most of you would say, Wine Show) held in Southern California in March The competition, in its 21st year, is open to any winery on the Pacific Rim including, of course, all Australian and New Zealand w...

Aging St Peter's Shiraz
I keep reading reviews and posts that talk about aging St Peter's shiraz for long periods of time--well over a decade. But I have yet to see a tasting note on a really old St Peter's bottle. Has anyone had actually experience with a bottle that was 10 or 15 years old?

Seppelt Questions?
Seppelt is not currently exported to the US, so with friends going to Australia I asked them to look for a few bottles of the 02 St Peters Shiraz. They brough back the 02 St Peters Shiraz -Grampians. Is this the same as the 02 St Peters Great Western (I'm guessing not) ? If not, anyone have any tast...

Out of 375 ml. bottles
We had the wine here in San Diego last week. (Only the 375ml bottles have arrived no 750s yet) We opened it and did a rough decant five hours before drinking. Very tight and tannic when first opened. Five hours later big rich wine with lots of depth and spice. Great balance and complexity (and avoid...
