Have to agree with you. Craggy Range has one weak arm to its portfolio - chardies are way over oaked and raw. occassionally they taste ok but most the time i try them i cringe I personally think there is alot of bottle variation on Craggy Range Chardonnay, especially Le Boux Callioux. I've tasted t...

The Diam closure is an excellent choice. I'm happy that great wine makers like Sandro Mossel from Kooyong / Port Philip (amongst many others) have chosen to use them. In their opinion the aging process in stelvin is not acceptable and it shows (recent line up of kooyong clonal chard). However. I hav...

When I last chatted to a yalumba wine maker their impression was agining compared to cork was several times longer, however they also stated the aging process it undergoes with stelvin is different to cork and hence isn't really comparable. Would be interesting to lay some away, I know 04's moss woo...

I'll agree that the introduction of screw caps makes humidity a lesser problem, and for wines in this closure I think fridge storage and humidity concerns are void. But for champagne, and red + white using corks or alternate closure I've seen a few issues storing in a fridge as some have suggested. ...

I've looked into buying a wine fridge a few times due to a rental situation, and everytime i've never followed through on a purchase because I want to store quality bottles long term; and if you want longer than 6month storage I'm 100% convinced you need humidity control. I've always looked at the b...

i saw a 98 707 about a week ago, kept in very good / perfect condition. The wine as others have stated is huge, massive dry oak nose backed by alot of rich dark berry., on palate it followed through with these characteristics. It's going to last a long time, no doubt it was a great wine to taste but...

I get to open and taste alot of grange, and personally I'm surprised they don't list 1989 as a top vintage. It has consistantly been the best drinking vintage i've been privy too for the last two-three years. Don't get me wrong, '90 + '86 are are brilliant wines, however in comparison they're still ...

Hi, I'm new to the board, but these are the wines I thought stood out to me this week. '03 Domaine De Villeneuve chateauneuf-de-pape Great complex nose of dried cranberries with hints of raisin and spice; had some serious acid that slowly integrated with the fruit during its 3-4hrs in the decanter, ...
