Re: Wickman’s Wine Auction Closure
It is going in to a hiatus due to Mark''s ill health, not so much due to business pressures.

Re: Sami Watch
I could probably talk about how I decided to ‘dive in the deep end’ and the idea of doing a horizontal, but the fact of the matter is I was making pizza for the Ooni and just grabbed what I thought was a Little Wine from the wine fridge. Like sans-Specsavers you can you see how it could happen if no...

Got an Email, saying they were hit, usual details taken, but no CC, Dlic and stuff.
Haven’t used them in 8 years. Should be a rule if you haven’t done any transactions for 5 years they have to remove your details.

Re: Victorian floods Wineries
I wonder how the 1860 Vines are looking, trying to get my bearings from the picture, the old vines were kind of on the main driveway in and to the left or thereabouts? So based on that that is about 2'oclock in the photos, and it looks as if about 5-10% of the vineyard is already underwater.

Any news on how they are faring? Looking at flood maps, Rutherglen, Beechworth, Heathcote, Grampians, Goulburn Valley, Macedon to name a few, all seem affected.

Re: Wendouree Mail Order 2022 ( 2020 vintage )
Not really the same thing. Most wine is shared when consumed, be it amongst 2 or 10 friends. Giving a bottle to a mate to drink changes the dynamics, unless that mate brings it to a tasting you are at.... I can see where Jamie is coming from, he is basically saying it is Wendouree's privilege/right ...

Re: The Aussie Fortified Thread…
I went to buy my usual 5L flagon of Seppeltsfield 10-15yo Muscat for my barrel, to be informed they no longer do it as they have lost access to the grapes. (I assuming this was 10 years ago and they have finally caught up?). Shame as I love the Muscat and none of the other Rutherglen places seem to ...

Re: Kay Brother’s Refuses To Replace Corked Wine!
I'd open it now. Unless it is like the 85 (and it is not) then it would be hitting the downward slope I daresay.
Or flog it on the secondary market, probably get $500 for it if in good nick.

Re: Kay Brother’s Refuses To Replace Corked Wine!
Jamie - what do you do if you get a corked Cappellano or Bartolo? I would drop the wine back to Augusto or Maria Teresa for replacement. In my bi-annual visits to the region I would return corked wine. If I were to buy expensive Barolo in Australia I would probably now check the policy for returnin...

Re: Annual Wine Dinner 2021
Awesome Dave. That would have been a fantastic night. Totally was, the only downside that I can say now was the cost. Close to the most expensive meal I've ever had once the Lobster, Caviar options were taken up, plus corkage, specialised degustation, PDR etc, etc. I even kept the receipt!! :-) But...

Re: Annual Wine Dinner 2021
I guess you could say that for any time, I might get hit by a bus crossing the street tomorrow. I guess we need to mix it up, play the long game mixed in with the short game (although that means multiple bottles of the same wine and at the prices nowadays you would struggle). It also depends on how ...

Annual Wine Dinner 2021
Been a while, and I've been sitting on these notes, so thought I'd better type them up. Dinner was at Bentley, food was a star as always, Nick and team looked after us in the PDR with aplomb as per usual. 2008 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc...

Dave, did you send Rockford a photo. Would be a shoe in for an entry into The Rag. Happy birthday by the way...ahh 50, at the top of the hill. Now I'm not posting this for wishes. This is all about the cake. I gave her a couple of photos of the old Rockford Press and some bottle pics...this is the result. The detail from the wine stains to the discolouration and texture of the wood is amazing. I am too scared to eat it! I am lucky that Sar...

Bit an Aussie vibe happening, with a Vics Meats Hamburger Kit (expensive, but so, so good https://online.vicsmeat.com.au/collections/packs-combos/products/b-o-b-bring-your-own-burger) The Wendouree has heaps of acid, lots of tannins, but almost medium bodied in SA terms. Reckon it will age well. Las...

Do you have to Email them? I got some of the 16 and really enjoyed it.
Not showing up on my order screen. Lots of wines have disappeared from it. (Rieslings, RR, Sparkling). Can still buy BP though, just bought a 6 pack so won't push the friendship.

Re: Anyone use a wine preserver unit?
Well they do screwcaps now, so no reason not to use one if that is how you drink your wines (i.e not all at once) I have one which I got cheap through the WSG and it has been great for me. But yeah the Capsules are exxy if you start getting low on the bottle it is best to just finish it off rather t...
