Further, it's just interesting to note that this no preservative wine did not give me a reaction (well not as much as usual a little redness but nothing major). I will experience flushing naturally sometimes when flying open-air aircraft from the sun and wind but red wines with sulphur dioxide give ...

As for the skin irritation/rash: lets go through a process of elimination Do you get skin irritation when eating dried fruit, canned fruit, pickles or other fruit juices? If so it may be the sulfite that is causing it Is the reaction worse with red wine and chardonnay? If so then it is more likely ...

Ok well I tried these last night: The Hardys 06 NPA Shiraz and the Hardys 06 NPA Cab Sav. The Cab Sav was much nicer.A little more rounded, plummy and soft. The Shiraz was ok but nothing to write home about. In saying that there was sufficient pepper and berry fruits.I just found it was a little too t...

Agreed on your organic statement Naomi.Yes, you won't catch me drinking cask wine anyway (preservatives or not).I figured if I can find a quaffing wine at $14 with a reasonable everyday palate then I'll give it a go.After that I will look around a little further and experiment with some more preserv...

Thanks for all the info guys. Have just picked up a Hardys NPA (No Preservatives Added) 2006 Shiraz for about $14. It probably will not be the best but I will let you know after I have tried it tonight.

Low Sulphur Dioxide Wines

Hello all, Have not posted for such a loooooooong time. Just wondering if any of you know of any low sulphur dioxide wines out there? I currently drink the Rymill Mc2 which states minimal sulphur dioxide. I tend to break out in skin irritations with a high sulphur dioxide content.Apparently there ar...

2003 Chateau Lavergne

Just wondering has anybody else tried this drop? It's the 2003 from the Bordeaux region. Picked it up at the local Dan Murphys this afternoon. Was only $10 so I did not expect a great deal from it but I am pleasantly surprised. On the nose the oak is definately apparent aswell as strawberries and pl...

Ha ha ha. Having a Hungarian background (my mother) I know some of the words are often amusing. Apparently the only other similar language is Finnish. If you ever hear Hungarian being spoken you will certainly say it is 'unique'. I never had the opportunity to taste many of the wines when I was over...

Oomoo is a nice drop agreed. Thanks for those. Any others people have I'm interested to hear about. Certainly there are some wonderful and sometimes 'interesting' wines available for under $20. I would have to look through some notes of mine to post by name. Can't think of any off the top of my head...

Little Rebel 2004 Cab Sav/Merlot

This is a magnificent wine of cab sav 70 % and merlot 30 % from the Yarra Valley VIC. When I purchased the bottle from the local outlet this afternoon for $16.90 what most stood out was the rebelious 'tattoo like' image on the label featuring heart with thorns throughout stating "little rebel&q...
