The Annual Question: Best Red @$15

Hello again.....it's that time when my fares are booked and I start to think of those red bargains waiting around Victoria and Southern NSW. I've got a case of Wyndham 555 Shiraz and cases of Waterwheel Shiraz and Verse1, but I'm throwing this question to the experts. In 2006 you chose: Oomoo Shiraz...

The Longhop dozen didn't last long on my recent trip, but it was a terrific drop. After that ran out I did the rounds and drank a few really enjoyable reds. Wyndam 555 and Waterwheel Shiraz were both terrific. Also revisited the latest Wynn's Shiraz and was disappointed; nothing terribly wrong with ...

Thanks everyone!

Ordered a dozen Long Hop Shiraz and my old mum reports it arrived safe and sound.

In four weeks I'll be trying it.

Very efficient service from Aus Wine Centre too.

Thanks for your input people.

Best Shiraz under $15

Calling for opinions on great value shiraz. Last year I asked this question before heading home and the winner was Hardy's Oomoo Shiraz by a canter. I'm enjoying it immensely here in HK where it is now widely available for about $20AUD. I'd like to hear about your current favourites at around $15.

I drink the Babich mainly; it's readily available over here and can be had for about $20 AUD. Special occassions deserve Palliser. When I'm home on holidays I usually revert to old favourites like Stoneleigh and Mt Riley. I think the Mt Riley is a consistent star and packs a lot of zing for the price.

I find this very interesting.
How is it that one bottle of this wine can be considered good and others bad?
They come from the same enormous vats I take it, so why such huge variation?

Best $15 and Under

Hello all, I'm new here and I apologise if this post has been done before. I'm returning to Oz after 5 years and am out of touch with the latest best buys info. When in Melbourne, I relied upon word of mouth and the Age Epicure magazines that came out a few times a year, for good info about affordab...
