TN: 1997 Leconfield "Cabernets" & 2004 Noble O

Wine: 1997 Leconfield “Cabernets” (cab sauv, merlot, cab franc and petit verdot) Massive, vibrant, red colour. An abundance of red berry fruit on the nose, along with all those great aged cabernet aromas: a handful of earth, some leather, old wood and lashings of cured meats. Palate is l...

Just a couple of notes in amongst others of which I will never remember... Wine: 2004 Delatite “Devil’s River” Cabernets (cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and malbec) The wine smells quite hot on the nose, which considering the alcohol content (12.5%) is very strange. It...

TN: Scotchmans Hill 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon

Decanted for about 30mins prior to drinking. Initially I found it to be rather closed, showing strong fruit, but somewhat unrecognisable. Then started to show off lovely black currants and blue berries. Showed some black olive characters, as well as a splash of soy sauce. Musk there as well. Palate ...

Hunter Valley

I am going to the Hunter Valley to do a few wineries next Monday, and was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions of interesting wineries to visit?
Thanks in advance,

I use National Storage in Brunswick, and I have about 35 or 40 cases in a private locker, and I think I pay about $40-$45 a month, including insurance. Temp and humidity controlled, they seem to be pretty good. I have never had a problem.

Just a few wines recently: 2002 Seppelt Premium Reserve Shiraz: Deep red colour. Opaque. Very perfumed nose of light red berries, slight amount of confectionary and savoury. A dose of spice. Almost a touch of flowers? Palate has lovely fruity light red berry flavours, tending savoury, which continue...

wines from the weekend

Just thought I'd post a few tasting notes on here. The first two were had during a dinner party, so they are impressions only. The second two were had during dinner at the Lakehouse, so are also mostly impressions. 1994 John Riddoch (Magnum) Decanted for about 30mins. Started off quite closed, with ...

Introducing...

Hi all, just thought I'd better introduce myself, instead of silently lurking in the background! I am almost 21, and have had a growing interest in wine starting from when I was probably about 18. I am slowly building up my knowledge and collection, now owning about 30 cases of wine. I really enjoy ...
