Don't usually post but felt the need. 1988 Wynns Riddoch that I found in my cellar. Should have been dead, thankfully it wasn't. Still had primary fruit and just got better as it breathed. No browning, lovely wine, Coonawarra Cabernet still stands the test of time.. Seriously good.

Just had one of these. $70 wine, what a joke. Fruit bomb, no complexity, really ordinary. Problem is II have 5 to go.

2004 Dutschke St Jakobi - bloody excellent.

2002 DP is seriously good. Have not tried the Krug, but it would need to sing to be better.

Kurtz 2006 Lunar Block- at $40 a bottle it is to die for.

Hi John,

Have done the trip 3 times and it is one of the great train journeys of the world.

A word of caution. 3 large meals a day, copius coldies, lots of wine and no exercise for 3 days can lead to an increased girth.

All worth it though.
