Any one able to help with a tasting note relatively recently for 1983 Lindemans Hunter River Shiraz Bin 6600?

Hi Gavan,
I drank a bottle of the 2003/4 museum release of this last night with pizza. Took a while to open up but once it did it was superb - one of the most beautifully spiced, earthen, intriguing noses of all time (!!) - before a palate that was all Hunter earth, licorice, spice and undergrowth. It smellt like the Hunter. It tasted like the Hunter. It was a glorious wine, with glorious length and glorious complexity, even if the mid-palate was just - just - a little muddled - which let the overall impression down just a bit. Could sit there and smell this baby all night long though.

Many thanks, taking this tonight, along with 1995 Yattarna (? unknown quality). Others bringing mature Bordeaux and Burgundy, should be interesting. I'd heard good things about this wine, sounds like a good choice.

Campbells got it down..some nice sweet berry in there too.
Had original release a few times recently (last friday actually) and about 6 of the 2000 Classic release. Range from very good to superb in quality. Only good bottles and all that. Needs 1/2 hour or so to come up and show those licorice characters. Hope yours is a good un because if it is it will show well in ANY company.

Pristine, believe its the recent release, looks to be in perfect nick, very high in the shoulder indeed.

I drank this museum released 2 years ago. I must admit not being a fan of Hunter's Shiraz but this btl. is very special indeed. I was impressed with the freshness/vibrancy of fruits, the complexities of leather & earth so well integrated. The plush texture was glorious, it's liked velvet upon satin, a classic.

How right you all were, this stood up very well in some good company.
1995 Yattarna - orangey, looking tired, flabby and a bit oxidised, probably bad bottle but not nice at all.
Burgundies - sorry all, my memory for the names of producers and sub producers, not to mention the different family members, is non existent. So these wine are from unknwn producer.
Meal at the Blanc, very very good food, brilliant oysters, and well priced with good stem ware, and every red decanted into quality decanters, well worth trying in Adelaide, $10 corkage.
1983 Meursault white Burgundy - very nice, core of ripe fruit, hint minerals, probably better 5 years ago, but very nice with bug tails.
1983 Echezeaux very slightly green on the finish, but delightful wine, not quite at the top order, but opened well over the evening with a lovely Pinot nose.
1982 Ducru - lovely and opened more and more over the evening, beautiful with the steaks and by itself, hints cedar, nice core of fruit, very dark and masculine.
1983 Lindemans Shiraz, not much to add to Campbell's note, in perfect condition, opened up, some regional earth and liquorice, no browning, lovely lovely fruit and a treat. Stood its ground, my wine of the night, some others thought the Ducru, but by a short nose.
