the vinicidal olive branch.
following my outburst and subsequent pasting in the 2000 grange thread
i've had an impulsive, vinicidal thought.
i'm contemplating purchasing a 2000 grange, for the purpose of opening it at a melbourne restaurant for tasting by any forumite interested.
pls post expressions of interest here.

Don't forget the sweet smelling flower in the lapel
As an aside, the best jugglers I ever saw were the French circus act 'Archaos' who juggled with chainsaws (even after one of them had lost his kneecap doing so).
Hope the wine's a belter
As an amateur Juggler I would like to point out that Jugglers don't like being asked if
a) are they a clown? and
b) do they also juggle chainsaws?
It's like when you tell someone you're into wine and they tell you about how good this or that Merlot is.
(sure there are some good Merlots and some good chainsaw acts)

Ryan,
That's a very kind open-ended invitation. I'll join Terrence in his expression of enthusiasm. Furthermore, I'd like Gary to bring an older Hunter red from the 1960s made by Maurice O'Shea. That should really cap things off.
I'll even bring something to surprise, depending on the nature of the evening you propose.
Initially, a Saturday night in March sounds good.
Whereabouts in Melbourne are you?

I 'preciate the correction regarding O'Shea, Gary.
I was rather hoping you'd make an effort and take a trip down to genteel ol' Melbourne, not to mention coughing up some cash to purchase an O'Shea to contribute to the conviviality of the evening. Consider that the quality of the company alone would be worth the time, effort and the pecuniary travail.
Best,
PJ.

Ryan,
I could not bring anything of the calibre of a Grange or even near. For I fear it was out of my price range even before the mortgage made a hit on my wine budget.
I would however love to experience wines of that calibre, even if it ends up being just the once.
If you are generous enough to allow "a mere mortal" to sup with you I would be glad to join you.

I would like to make it but am Sydney bound.
It would be good to have the 2000 Grange up against some other vintages of Grange.
At the release of a new Grange vintage I used to go each year to a tasting where the new release would be up against the previous two vintages. It was always a good exercise.
After doing this tasting for many a year they have now discontinued the practice.

Very generous of you Ryan, although probably unnecessary. I just re-read your 2000 Grange thread, your post would have been OK if you just hadn't used the word clowns. The rest of the points were worth raising and discussing so you probably didn't have to be penalised a bottle of Grange for your transgression.
Although if it turns into an offline then it will probably be worth your while.
Cheers
