Kirrihill Wine

Post by Anonymous »

Hi my name is Lee and I have just joined the Auswine forum.

I have a reasonable collection of wines and are always on the look out for new wines to try.

Over the years I have grown to love the Kirrihill range of wines especially the 2001 Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Just wondering if anyone else has tasted Kirrihill Wines and would know where the 2001 Cab Sav could be purchased.

Cheers
Lee

Hi Lee, and welcome to the forum. :)

Kirrihill is another one of those great new wineries that have popped up in the last few years, with consistently good quality wines at very reasonable prices.

I think the 2001 would have disappeared from most places now - according to the website the current vintage would be 2002, which should be as good if not a lot better.

Gavin (our generous website host) stocks the Kirrihill Clare Valley & Langhorne Creek Shiraz, so you may wish to contact him to see if he can get any of the Clare Cabernet in stock, or you can contact the winery direct (you may even still be able to get the 2001):

Thanks Ian,

I agree with your comments about the 2002, it was a very good wine. I haven't yet tryed a bad wine from the Kirrihill Estates range. The 2001 Cab Sav was just that touch better than the other years.

The 2005 Kirrihill Clare valley Riesling (92 points - James Halliday Companion 2007)and 2005 Kirrihill Sauvignon Blanc (95 points - James Halliday) are also excellent wines for the price, around $16-19.

Welcome Lee

You may be in luck, I know where there is still some 2001 Cabernet, where are you located?

Langton's Melbourne Auction currently has a case of 2001 Kirrihill CS for sale. Currently bid @ $9/bottle.

Have enjoyed their wines and also agree that they are priced quite reasonably.
Currently drinking -

I'm fairly sure that KirriHill Wines used to be Kirribilli, and it's still marked as such on some maps.

Close, it's part of the Kirribilly (with a "y") Wine Group, Kirribilli was a Rosemount label at one stage (I think).
