Dome 24 Bottle Wine Fridge on Sale for $179 at Target

Over the past 6-9 months that I have been reading this forum there has been a number of comments around wine fridges. I myself purchased a Dome wine fridge about 6months ago from Target and it happily sits at 13C (not sure about humidity though).

Target again have a sale on for their fridges so instead of $300 they are $179 for a 24 bottle one. Saw this offer yesterday in Bondi Junction, Sydney (they had 16 fridges at the front of the store), however sure they are fairly widespread.

The only problem I have found with buying a small fridge, is that when you fill it (i.e. very quickly) you want a much larger one However for the price I can't grumble, even if I am a Brit . Living in Australia has taken my complaining about the weather out of my daily routine ... actually that isn't so true, instead of me saying it's "bleedin cold, wet and grey", I now complain about it being "too hot and the sea water being a bit nippie...!"

Every search I did on fridges has your name on it plugging the Dome!

Anyway, I bought one. It damn noisy, and on the lowest temp setting, keeps 13 - 15 deg. even though the manual states the temp at low should be 9. It seems it keeps around 13 deg below ambient. Does this mean in winter its going to hit 5 deg?

Humidity is in the 40 - 50% mark. I have placed a sponge and cups of water in, but the humidty will not rise, except for one occasion where I poured water all over the floor of the fridge whcih only succeeded in 55%.

Does that mean I must buy screwcaps only?!?!

I have a similar fridge, I managed to find a plastic rectangular container that fir perfectly on the bottom, I then hung a tea towel in it and Im getting humidity up to 60%, thats about the best I've been able to achieve in it. In my below ground cellar the humidity is 60-80%, so ideal.

Fair comment, no I don't work for or know anyone that sells them. I am a poor Brit that moved over to Oz just over a year ago and because it is a tad warmer than the UK, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a cheap contraption to keep the few bottles I have at a constant temp. To my record, although this is from memory only even when the garage was cold it kept it fairly constant. Only reason I chose one in the forst place was after surfing the web and seeing that the Mistral I was going to buy was a compressor fridge so vibration and it was cheaper so the pikie in me thought for 60 quid it was a fair bet.
