Great vintage, excellent review by JH - 94, and so why was I so disappointed.

Soft red berry nose - no spice etc. not bad if a bit non-descript. But the palate and finish , what a let down. Mid weight but bland, slightly sweet and cloying due to a lack of acid with one of the shortest finishes I have had on newish red.

Was it a dud bottle or any one else underwhelmed?

Thankfully a bottle of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Le Stanze 1993, Poliziano, did have the structure and fruit to make a porcini rissotto sing.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

I was also a little underwhelmed. Got a big shock when I saw JH had scored it 94.

cheers,
Andrew.
