Hi there
I've bee scouring the net for the past few days for australian sites that have viticulture forums - to no avail.
I've got a small vineyard of 300 vines and would like to find somewhere that has people in a similar situation.
Anyone know?
Thanks
-Markus

Are there many keen and interested viticulturists who'd like a forum?

Markus,
Just in case you have not done it, I typed viticulture forums into a Google search - the first page included the following.
There is one that is part of AgLinks, but its Horticulture and Viticulture; does not look very useful. Click
here
There is CRUSHNET in the USA. Click
here
There is one called viticulture UK. Click
here.
Enology Notes is a free electronic news journal that covers practical grape and wine technology issues. Subscription is free. Its part of Virginia Tech in the USA. Click
here. Prof. Bruce Zoecklein is a very helpful guy, he will probably answer a few questions for you if they are of a general (i.e. not Australia specific) nature.
For the Google search click
here.
Good luck,
Mike

Well
Its a click of a few buttons for those wonderful auswine people
modesty forbids
to create a new forum here, for viticulture (ists)?
Do you think there is enough interested people to be involved?

Gavin,
Sounds like it could be a good plan and if you decide to do it, I will be happy to publicise it in my Irregular Update as well as home page.

I'd be interested. It'd be good to pester different people with viticulture questions, especially as I'm in the midst of new plantings. In the past I've done vineyard visits, lots of emails and calls to different growers, improvement societies, consultants and winemakers, plus bits of courses, which all work OK, but aren't quite the same as what you can do in an online forum.

I might be able to help anyone out with viticultural enquiries, just let me know, or make a post. (Perhaps it could be a permanent sticky admin?)

The Australian Viticulture Forum has just been created.
It is open and available for those interested to discuss relevant issues, and to help each other out.
You do need to be a registered auswine forum user to contribute and post, although, of course, it can be read by anyone.
I hope it becomes a useful resource, all those in the industry and interested are welcome to become involved, and i hope you do.
regards
Gavin Trott

Great plan!
I will read it too. (But please ignore any advice I may offer on there, as I know nothing of viticulture
)
