Fosters does it again

Post by n4sir »

One of the Blacktongues tried to chase up a bottle of the 2004 Wynns Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon for one of the upcoming blind tastings, and was told by Wynns CD it isn't available there until December.

I walked into my local supermarket liquor outlet and sure enough there's a shelf full of them - looks like Foster's distribution is still screwing around their cellar doors/small retailers in preference to the big two grocery chains. When will these guys ever learn?

Cheers,
Ian

Hmmm, given that those big supermarket type retailers usually like to price match but are not very clever about noticing vintage, I wonder if you can get the 04 for the cheapie prices going around at the moment on the 03.
Cheers,
Kris

Yep - down to $16.97/bottle with a supermarket discount voucher.

The Fosters sales guys have no idea. Former VB salesmen are flogging 4000 sku's of wine, they are very confused. :D

Hummmmmm Image

I have heard "wine x won't be available till abc month" at CD before when and it has been released in other states; that's common when the home state still has stock.

But when its available in the home state at retail, one can only wonder.

I wonder is an ex Rosemount employee is in charge of this one.

I am a 'Drives' member at Great Western and ordered a couple of cases of various wines a month ago from their bi yearly mailer, am still waiting for my Mt Ida, the St Peters and others were delivered 2 weeks ago , could have got it cheaper and faster at Dan Murphys !!.

Well, I am a Seppeltsfield member and am still waiting for my mailer, let alone some wines from it  .

Davo, I'm a seppeltsfield member too and I didn't wait for the mailer - just rang and ordered. I would suggest you do the same as the mailer isn't out 'til November, but that stuff should be on it. Not sure what price DMs had on StP but the cheapest I could find it was through the club as a member. Hoping for second dibs when the mailer comes out - but I'm just greedy!
Cheers,
Kris

Thanks Kris, I was thinking of giving them a bell but I also got the Veritas mailer today so my budget could well be blown till November now anyway
