2005 Riesling Quandry

I want to buy some 2005 riesling, and I have narrowed it down to Heggies, Pewsey Vale, Jim Barry Watervale, Leo Buring Eden Valley or Richmond Grove Watervale. The main criteria is longevity (ie. which wine will taste best in 10 years).
Which one do you think is best?

I would go Pewsey Vale and Richmond Grove. Both have good track records on age. I have had the 05 Pewsey Vale and it is a lovely wine with great fruit and acidity and I suspect should go the distance. Haven't tried any of the others.

Agree with Gary. Go the Leo Buring Eden. The Clare is pretty smart as well but not quite there...
On the other hand, I would suggest that most of the rieslings listed would go the distance in a screwcap.
I find that screwcaps have really slowed down the aging and 10 years doesn't look that long anymore in a good cellar.[/quote]

I was in Clare last week to see how the 2006 Rieslings were. Some people still had their 2005s available but got to see some 2006s against 2005s.
Th 2006s overshadowed the 2005s. The 2006s were steely, tight minerally wines while the 2005s tended to be softer and broader. 2005 Eden Valleys do look better.
I thought the Crabtree 2006 Riesling was a knockout and bought some.

For all Clare's reputation as a centre of riesling excellence, it seems to be very frequently outshone by Eden-sourced wines...
