Rockford BP release

Post by PeterP »

Tasted the Basket Press 2001 and recently disgorged Black shiraz on Saturday. The BP was probably the best that I have had in many years - very luscious, full flavoured and slippery, but balanced enough to drink right now. The Black Shiraz was very closed both on the nose and the palate. Also tried the 1997 Vintage Port for the first time - where has this been hiding up to now??

I am a bit fan of Rockford, but it's not always available in Sydney. I just wondering if Rockford will take order if I ring them up?

I have purcahse their wines on many occasions from the cellar door when I visited Adelaide, hopefully I am on their mailing list

Rob,

Most if not all the Rockford wines are sold cellar-door/mailing list only, in restricted quantities per person. The only way they get into shops is via that path (flippers, auction etc) so the prices will be much higher than CD / mailing list.

I'm not sure of the status of their mailing list, but I suggest you phone and check and if not get on the waiting list for the mailing list :( I'm not sure how many years of buying it takes to get into the Stonewall group, but that status gets priority access to new releases and SVS etc wines.

Good luck.
Cheers
Brian
Life's too short to drink white wine and red wine is better for you too! :-)
