Introducing...

Post by 85luke »

Hi all, just thought I'd better introduce myself, instead of silently lurking in the background! I am almost 21, and have had a growing interest in wine starting from when I was probably about 18. I am slowly building up my knowledge and collection, now owning about 30 cases of wine.
I really enjoy reading this forum, which is both interesting and informative.
Cheers!

Here are the last two wines I drank and the tasting notes:

Wine Tasted: 2003 Cobaw Ridge Chardonnay
Comments: Dull gold in colour. Nose of hazelnuts, subtle oak, honey toast, fig. very complex. Palate has flavours of honey toast, fig, butter, honey, toast and a very slight taste of rock melon on the turn. Citrus zest also plays a small part. Aftertaste of spice and honey toast, with enough acidity to (I think) improve with a few years age.

Wine Tasted: 1994 Delatite “R.J.” Cabernets (60% Cab Sauv/30% Merlot/10% Malbec)
Comments: Deep crimson, but very vivid. Bounds of cherries on the nose, along with vanilla, cigar box and espresso, with hints of cocoa. Palate has espresso, bitter cocoa, dark chocolate, cherries, and orange zest. Aftertaste of bitter chocolate, espresso and mushroom type earth characters. This wine is drinking perfectly now.

Luke
Welcome and I wish I had a cellar like yours at 21. I think I was too busy drinking beer
Good tasting notes and great to see one from Delatite, who've always struck me as an "under the radar" winery, but I'm a big fan of their riesling and had heard good words on the reds.
regards
Ian

Hi Luke,

Let me add my welcome to Ian's.

Good TN's for your first post; well done.

Somewhere along the line, you had better get a job that pays loads of dosh; when the wine bug gets you that young, its an expensive obcession.
Cheers
