Hello All,
Am I right in thinking that Domaine de la Romanee Conti, Romanee Conti is the world's most expensive wine on release?
Thanks,
Adair

U got it right Adair. Their DRC Le Montrachet is the most expensive white.
Most expensive new world wine gotta be the Screamming Eagle and the most expensive OZ wine is III Rivers upon released.

Adair,
Back when the '99 DRc's were released, my old place of employment recieved a mixed dozen. I think the break down was:
2 x 1999 DRC, Echezeaux
2 x 1999 DRC, Grands Echezeaux
1 x 1999 DRC, Romanee Conti
2 x 1999 DRC, Richebourg
3 x 1999 DRC, Romanee St Vivant
2 x 1999 DRC, Vosne Romanee 1er cru Duvault Blochet
We only offered it as a case, and was quickly snapped up for I think around $12-13,000.
Should've bought it myself!

To further add to the pipe dream.......
Moet brought out a non vintage cuvee with blends of 11 of the exceptional 20th century vintages (1900, 14, 21, 85, etc). It was only released in magnums and the asking price was 20,000 euros. Apprently they are holding some back for their 300th birthday in 2043....live the dream.
cheers

There are also a number of burgundian "cult like" wines where the total production can be less than 200 bottles....these fetch prices well in excess of DRC LRC...
