How about a venue around say ... Semaphore ? Café Saltwater on the hill overlooking the ocean, say around sunset ?

May offline

I'd like to come along but please make it a central address as I will be cabbing it. Wah Hing sounds ok especially if they have good feelings towards wine groups and go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
May 12 or 19 ok for me. I'd prefer a mixture of wines rather than one variety. Look forward to meeting other Auswine forum members. Cheers

I'm interested - I'd prefer a Saturday though, as it's a bit of a pain to come in after work on a Friday and I'm usually feeling a little flat.

Wah Hing ($45pp ish) with a Pinot/Burgundy theme sounds good (especially as I wasn't invited to any of the Pinot-Duck nights last year )

Cheers,
Ian

Great introduction to the magic of good St Joseph. I have botttles of the 95 which are humming.

It would be nice to make it. The Adelaide offlines are always a good and friendly show.

I'm interested.

Would prefer casual over formal, T Chow or the one discussed here.

Also prefer a much broader theme, like to try lots of stuff, not just one variety and varietal.

Variety is the ... etc etc

Just my 2 c worth

Since I survived my first Adelaide offline last November I am definitely keen to come again!

I am quite open to venue and theme.

you can count me in would love to come along to my first Adelaide offline. wah hing sounds pretty good, if it is anything like the two chows it should be good.
Dont have a preference to a varietal night or a non-varietal.
As a student i would obviously prefer a lower priced venue.

by the way rooview where did you get the Moulin a Vent have been looking everywhere but cant seem to get them in Adelaide also wouldn't mind sourcing some Morgons.

first post. if pinot is the basis of a theme then Mings Palace on Gouger Street can do a 4 course Duck dinner and reasonable corkage. Had one last year and enjoyed the evening and the wines.
2002 Mogard Muneret Burgundy (or spelling similar)
1996 Diamond Valley Close Planted
and obout 6 others well matched to the food
Vegetatian/pescatorian options available.

I'm keen - it'll be good to meet a few more people. Any venue and theme are fine by me. I'm also in the foot hills so something in the city is preferable, 'cause I'll be taxiing.

rooview wrote:I'll be bringing three bottles (as I'll be bringing two people), I think aiming for 1.5btl per person average works well as I'm sure quite a few will be meeting the "bucket of shame".

Any preferences from the following?

1996 Gosset (Champagne, Fr)
- beats Krug MV to my taste.

1998 Grosset Riesling Polish Hill (Clare, SA)

2001 Best's Pinot Meunier (Great Western, VIC)
- for something completely different...

2003 Duboeuf Moulin A Vent Domaine de la Tour de Bief (Beaujolais, Fr)
- if you don't like Beaujolais you aint tried this.

2002 Domaine de L'Arlot, Nuits St. Georges "Clos des Forêts" 1er Cru (Burgundy, Fr)
- a little young, but this is what Burgundy is about.

2000 M. Chapoutier St. Joseph Les Granits (N. Rhone, Fr)
- OK, it's a shiraz but it's sooo soft and sexy.

2002 Kracher #5 Scheurebe TBA (Burgenland, Austria)

Warre's 1987 Quinta da Cavadinha (Portugal)
- not a declared vintage but better superb drinking now.

I'm not sure if the 375ml Warre or Kracher will go around... I could easily bring two Warre's but am not able to spare another #5. Could instead bring a Barbeito 5 y.o Boal (Madeira)?

1996 Gosset (Champagne, Fr) & 2002 Domaine de L'Arlot, Nuits St. Georges "Clos des Forêts" 1er Cru (Burgundy, Fr), both look pretty appealing to me.

Bucket of shame eh? ... Just please don't bring along another one of those revolting 1996 Bodegas Ismael Arroyo Valsotillo Reserva, okay?

Cheers,
Ian

I can probably make the 19th - in Adelaide for a few days. 12th is half-feasible but availability is very uncertain.

This is looking pretty good. If we are going to do Burgundy v New World/ Aus Pinot, should we do something similar with whites or leave it more laissez-faire - thinking of the options bastadry that are inherent in offlines!

Enjoy gent's

But coming all the way from Hong Kong for that most overrated of varietals is unlikely.

Just one opinion, buit Duck and Pinot is very limiting?

Went to two of those last year, was underwhlemed (with the wines overall) and just feel like I've 'been there and done that' a bit.

Plus I have a fascinating 100% Charodnnay vintage Champagne I'd like to bring along?

How about

Come along

Great Chinese food

bring something great

Have fun.

Too loose a theme?

Did you buy the St Joseph in Oz? If so, how much?

It's 40 euros at cellar door and a very good wine.

Would love to be there with my wife Pam.

Has a date been decided?

$62AUD from Langtons (including commision). At the sam time, grabbed a few of the other cuvees CdP Croix de Bois and Crozes-Hermitage Varonniers at even less. I've never made over to Rhone when in France... I'm trying to calculate a way to visit Bodeaux, Rhone, Champagne, Burgenland, Tokaji and Madeira but they are all a little far away from where the business is. If I supply the jet can you fly us ? ;)

Great price. I hope you enjoy! Vintage dependant; but can be excellent.

Lyon is so very close to Ampuis.

Is this still going ahead guys? :?

Somebody better think about arranging something pretty soon if it's going to happen. Unfortunately I'm going to be pretty flat out the next two weeks myself, so someone else will have to pick up the ball on this one.

Would be very interested, but will be visiting my Parents (and my cellar for the first time in a few years) in England in May and won't be around until the last weekend.

Will be bringing back some lesser known Burgundies, so Pinot theme would be good.

Sounds like a good excuse to set it back a few weeks...

I don't know about the rest of the board bu this time of the year is already packed for me... I wouldn't mind setting it back a bit and really organising a strong, coherent line-up.
