Hi folks,

Been a while since the last post, but thats not to say I have not been casting an eye over you all.

Still lacking in the education dept but must say, I feel confident dropping the occasional post on here.

I will be heading back to Oz for xmas, and after trying and tasting this French stuff, I will be glad to attack my Oz stash of wine.

Can I get some recommendations on some good oz shiraz that can be sourced easily to try over the xmas break. I will be here for two months so need to try to buy!

I love hearing Torb and Red Bigots wine reports, but sourcing these wines in Europe is near impossible. To be fair I have ordered some of Smithys parolas, some Wirra Wirra and from the gossip, some Clonakilla V. Different styles but as I say, its try to buy, and I have not had the chance yet. Price range -$20-$100.

Would love to drop by for an offline if one pops up in Syd or better still, Newcastle, but I am an athlete, so maybe thats not wise!!!!

One wine I am looking forward to being released is the 2004 Schubert Goose Yard Shiraz from the Barrosa. Very limited quantities made but their web-site can be found here and if you put an order in now, you maybe lucky to source some. Otherwise I am sure Gavin maybe getting some as well.

1998 Orlando Centenary Hill (maybe released when you get here - been waiting for this one for nearly 1 year now??)
2003 Glaymond Range available through Gavin
2002 Saltram No.1
2004 Groom (wonderful wine)
2004 Kalleske Greenock Shiraz (available now but hard to source)
2003 Meerea Park Aunts Shiraz (very nice wine from the Hunter)

And if your into the Sparkling stuff (great on those hot days in summer):

1995 Leasingham Classic
2002 Seppelt Original (budget SS but very nice over a BBQ)
1994 Seppelt Show (hard to find now but still can be found in a few of the major chains if you are prepared to pay the price!)

Send Gavin a PM/email and he can organise a mixed case (or two) of most of those above & the ones AJ listed. If you do it now they'll be at your OZ address by the time you get home, which means straight to drinking & no mucking around!

Totally agree with you on these, great value for money wines. You could also throw in 2004 Teusner The Riebke Shiraz as well for a great under $20 wine that definitely over delivers IMO.
