2002 Torzi Matthews “Frost Dodger” Shiraz

Post by Adair »

2002 Torzi Matthews “Frost Dodger” Shiraz - Barossa Valley, South Australia

Hints of savouriness upon opening, not unusual for a red under screwcap. This wine is packed with deep, rich, Barossa fruitcake and lively prune fruit. There is also apricot sweetness and floral aromatics. The wineÂ’s texture on the front is rather pleasing with almond nuttiness and a little glycerine providing a unique sensation of depth although this falls away a little on the back. Caramel and blackberry linger well supported by ripe, cushion-like tannins. A sumptuous wine. 17.9/20.

Hi Adair,

Many thanks for the TN :D

Could I please ask if you decanted this wine and if so, how long please?

Cheers,
Vickie

Hello Vickie,

No I did not decant the wine. The bottle was opened and poured straight into a Riedel glass and drunk over the next hour. I am sure a couple of hours in a decanter would only be of benefit.

Kind regards,
Adair

When I tried it, it took many hours to open and show its best.
