Hi all,
This wine made by Max S in 1962 is regarded by many as Australia's greatest ever wine. A blend of the Barossa Shiraz and Coonawarra Cabernet with quality oak it is the father to the 80A and grandfather to the 1990 Bin 90A.
I acquired a bottle for my 40th for $300 and reluctantly sold it about 5 years ago for $1,000. Latest auction price now is $2,200. Where will it peak and will it ever be drunk?
Has anyone any TN's to tantalise us?
The 90A is the best wine I've ever had and at $200 at auction itÂ’s a bargain.

Penfolds 1962 Bin 60A - Watch This Space
I've had some about 3 weeks back....very nice but around $1600 to much
1962 Penfolds Bin 60A
Brick red with fantastic focus. Lovely nose.....leathery, meaty aromas, fruitcake, blackcurrants, savoury, soft spice....these flavours also manifest themselves on the palate. Superb balance...and long finish.........97 Points.......a second bottle consumed with lunch didn't show as well as the first one.....just lacked a bit of fruit but still lovely stuff.

Hi Chuck,
actually had this wine last weekend with my mate starboy over in coonawarra. From memory the wines we had on Friday afternoon were:
59 Rouge Homme Cab
62 Penfolds 60A
Penfolds 80A
79 Redman Cabernet Sauvignon
90 Brands Cabernet Sauvignon
82 Wynns John Riddoch
90 Bin 707
90 Penfolds 90A
90 Penfolds 920A
Whilst I thought the 60A was an incredible wine, for me it was over-shadowed on the weekend by two wines. The 82 John Riddoch is close to the best Australian wine I have ever had. Remarkable.
After this tasting a few of the gang got together and went to the Coonawarra Comunity Hall to see Mal Redman's homemade Fireworks and also dig into a $8 parma. With dinner we drank a 1959 Wynns Oven Valley Shiraz that was very close in quality to the Riddoch.
cheers
