TN: Seppelt Drumborg Pinot Noir 2016

G'day

Decanted a couple of hours before service. Crimson in colour.

Despite decanting, the initial impession from the nose is lots of primary cherry fruit. It took a bit of swirling to release the underlying aromas of spice (five spice or even some Moroccan spices), strawberry conserve, vanilla and a hint of leather.

The palate is much less 'fruity', with leather and cedar alongside what are becoming developed, but still juicy, fruit flavours. Tannins are barely noticeable up front, but there is a degree of tannic grip towards the back palate. Acid runs down the middle of the tongue, in fact, the wine appears to narrow in the mouth before a medium finish.

How long will this wine last? At eight years, it's looking pretty good. I have had older vintages of this wine, and I'm not suggesting it will fall over any time soon, but it's probably at its best now.

Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
