Found a couple of bottles of Turkish red on sale and simply couldn't resist. Not a producer I've heard of but the idea of a blend of native grapes was too tempting: 2016 Lucien Arkas Bağlari 'ANTRE' Öküzgözü - Boğazkere, Turkey (14.5%).

The back label describes the wine as "Full bodied wine with strong tannins, flavours of dry mulberry, and black pepper. Recommended with steak and thinly sliced liver." It actually sounds good, though I have to say that rarely, if ever, have I seen liver recommended on a wine label - not even a Chianti!

12 BP 2018

6 Rifle Range cab 2018

6 Sparkling Black

Certainly crowd pleasers here in ADL. The reverence these wines are held in locally has gone up a few notches.

I think we’ve been over this a few times? Flippers can buy up March 1 evidently as cellar door opens.

I’m just buying a bit more these days as BP is far more respected locally than many of the foreign treats I’m prepared to share. I’m sure putting on Bartolo Mascarello at an upcoming housewarming would turn up noses versus a couple of cases of BP. It’s the Tony Modra of wines in Adelaide- I’m told Port supporters don’t drink wine so apologies for the reference.

:D

I thought up to March 1, you had your Stonewall allocation...post March 1, of course, go your hardest, get any mates who are in the valley to drop in and get a few bottles for you, multiple visits, all that stuff...did the same myself for 2010/12 and if enthusiasm at the winery is anything to go by, will do it again for the 2021 vintage. Going to the BV in a week or two, hope there are a few bottles left, RR and R&S are also on the list.

Wouldn't be convinced that Mods drinks too much BP...more of a West End man

100% agree regarding the 2016 DC Grenache. I had a couple 3-4 months ago on a Rockford themed tasting night and they were superb!

Ah yes 'Speciaaaaaaaaaaal' On a football theme, wonder if a certain Bruce has ever given 'Delicious" a bottle of Cyril...perhaps Con can forward one from last nights auction acquisitions

Yes not a big Grenache drinker but got 6 of the museum release of the 2016 DCG...along with 6 of the '16 R&S and RR. 2018 is shaping same...seriously how much wine do I still need to buy??!! Suspect 2019 and 2021 will be crackers too, and probably 2020

Perhaps I will do an online order, plus the visit is coming up...the kids can have the wines.

I have tried a number of Tapanappa Chardonnay's, Tiers and the 1.5m, in the last 6 months, they have been very ordinary indeed regardless of the price tags.

I hit Tahbilk on Saturday and picked up this mixed (Shiraz) dozen - one of the other participants managed to grab 13 dozen...the canny bastard!

Also snagged 2 dozen of the Tahbilk 2014 Winemakers Selection Shiraz/Marsanne. Unusual blend, but drinking perfectly well now. And, judging by the purple colour, full flavoured fruit and delicate tannins still being present - I'd say they will see out the decade.

Plus another 4 dozen of various whites (Chardonnay, Albarino, Viognier and the aptly named 'mystery dozen').

$440 well spent, I reckon. The only down side was there were no sparklings on offer this time (I don't count 'moscato' in any shape or form).
