I doubt you will regret this purchase (unless you don't wait 10+ years to drink them)

Coincidentally, I just received an online offer of the 2018 Il Poggione 'Brancato' Rose. I don't think I've ever had Brunello producer's rose. My curiosity has been piqued and I think a two bottle purchase is warranted.

Mahmoud.

Hi Sam, if you ever get back to Adelaide, a Marius vertical should be arranged.

Cheers

That would be great... actually having not been able to get to my cellar for so long, I have been wondering what I can do to get through as much wine as possible when I finally get back and therefore what kind of themes I could do.

I was thinking about verticals (Grosset Gaia, Basket Press, Marius, Wendouree ... so many options)... or maybe a South Australian red theme 2010 vs 2012 (vintages I went probably too long on) ... fingers crossed people might be able to enter Australia some time in 2022!

Yes a fantastic cabernet, remember buying a sixer of the 96 on release, like it was yesterday...at about half the price of 96 John Riddoch.
At least they still make the Riesling

After agreeable experiences with the Semillon and the Vincent Grenache

6 * 2021 Cirillo Ancestor Vine 1850 Rosato

I know Granache is a harder sell than Cab, Shiraz or Pinot, but the idea of making a Rose from some of the oldest Grenache vines in the world is mid boggling. I like darker Roses and hopefully this will fit the bill.

Grenache and Rose are two 'hot' categories in retail land right now. A Grenache rose should be good for cash flow 8), the remaining juice and skins will go back into a dry table red.

Michael, a very relevant point!  Anyway, I m sure you’ve got a fair idea! At the bargain price offered, definitely a mid week quaffer.
But seriously, it is an issue that I am considering more and more. I’ve reinvigorated my interest in Bordeaux over the last couple of years, but do I go for current releases or pick off some older bottles in the secondary market? The latter seems to be prevailing. Do I keep buying dozens of new Australian releases when I prefer drinking wine with a bit of age? It’s gotta stop, or at least start to wind down sooner or later. There’s plenty of stock in the cellar to enjoy!
Dare say, a question that all of us have to face at some stage. Anyway, a trip to Coonawarra in three weeks for Cabernet Celebrations probably won’t help. Last weekend’s trip to the Barossa didn’t help either
Cheers, Malcolm
