About 18 months ago, I hosted a vertical of 13 vintages of Marsanne, including the 2015; http://forum.auswine.com.au/viewtopic.php?f ... ne#p158088. Our note on the 2015 at the time was:
"Pale yellow in colour. The tropical fruits prevalent in the younger wines was largely absent, and replaced with honeysuckle, lanolin and honey / toasty characters on the nose. Acid appeared sharper and angular (possibly in relation to the diminished fruit) and the finish was slightly astringent. This wine appeared out of sync with the vintages around it."
18 months more in the bottle has seen the colour change to a medium yellow, and the signs of 'mature' marsanne emerge more fully. The acid appears to be more in balance with the fruit and the toasty / lanolin characters, and the astringency has gone. It's settled down a bit.
Regardless, the wine still appears 'light on' in terms of flavour intensity and length, compared to other vintages I have tasted at 6 years of age. Possibly still a little out of sync with the Tahbilk style
It will be interesting to see what the 1927 Vines of this vintage is like (not yet released).

Had the 1927 Vines 2011 last week, and it looked positively young!
