TN: Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne 2013

Post by Waiters Friend »

The premium version of Tahbilk's Marsanne. Both wines apparently age superbly. Not sure about this one, though.

The colour is moderate yellow, and darker than earlier vintages that are sitting in the cellar (2012, 2010, both of which I have sampled recently). There's lemon pith (not bright lemons) and honeysuckle on the nose, and the palate has weight, viscosity bordering on oiliness. It's OK, but doesn't have the 'wow' factor and freshness that the recent earlier vintages have surprised me with.

I have 3 more bottles of this, and they all share the same colour. Is this just vintage variation? I'd appreciate the advice of anyone else who has tried this.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

I have a 2012 and a 2013 vintage of this wine. The 2013 is definitely a darker shade of gold.

I can't comment on the taste as I am yet to open my 2013, nor will I for a few more years.
