International postage costs

Post by tonym »

How much postage would you expect to pay for a case of 6 bottles of white and a case of 6 bottles of red from the USA?

Does the colour of the wine affect the price of the freight? If they are from the same place it might be cheaper to send a (mixed) case of 12......

Sorry, I was born this way!

Cheers

Gotta be >$200,then add 49% of the wine cost plus 49% on the postage for WET, import duty and GST

The reason I asked was I got an email from one vineyard that the postage will increase about 300 % over what it was the last couple of years which will bring it up around $250 for a case of 6 not including taxes. In the past few years that I can remember I have had to pay WET of 29% on the price of the wine including postage which hasn't been to bad as these wines are extremely hard to get. I don't know who is setting the postage prices, wether the vineyard is have a lend or the carrier is

If they were shipping 6 bottles to you here for 60-80 USD, that is a steal...

My guess was about 250+ which is in line with what they just told you.

To put this in perspective, I had 12 bottles shipped in the US domestically and it was 50+ USD....

Even sending small packages to Australia is so expensive now..like 50+ USD...

Can I ask you which wines you're having sent?

It cost me $225 to get a case sent from Auz to Europe and I would expect a simaliar price to send from/to America.

It seems that I have been getting a good deal for the last few years and I should cop the increase. I suppose its still good value.
