2002 Turkey Flat Barossa Valley Shiraz (cork): It’s been well over six years since I last tried this wine, and the colour is still a dark to inky crimson red. Still very tight, subtly perfumed and slightly tarry, blackberries, toast and vanilla/nougat oak, a little earth and tequila, then black olive/black liquorice; with breathing it lets loose a wallop of cocoa and espresso, but is also a little vegetal. The palate is medium-weight and fruit-sweet with blackberry/black cherry and mineral, the spicy/vanilla oak in the background, finishing extremely long with grippy, tea-like tannins that sit somewhere between black & green. Needs another 5-10 years, or something meaty to match it now.
Cheers,
Ian

Thanks for the note, I have a few of these and was thinking of popping one soon. Based on this I might sit on them a little longer.
