Recently i bagged the crap out of a 02 Jasper Hill Georgias Paddock.
After bagging it i had my brother over who has no idea about good wine, i opened my last 02 and tried to palm it off to him, He drank to thirds of it, but i have seen him drink a cask of moselle quicker
So i said to myself, yup shite again, always will be.
Anyways the last 3rd of the bottle sat on the bench with no cork from Sunday arvo till last night. I was cooking a lovely pasta Al Funghi and spied the bottle out of the corner of my eye and decided to have a swig straight from the bottle to see how bad it was now.
BAM i had the biggest shock in my short fine wine drinking career, it was awsome, one of the most complex and interesting Shiraz i have ever had, it had a really nice eucalyptus finish and the oak was amazing and blended seamlessly with the beautiful fruit.
What the hell happened to this wine?, it was potent vinegar when opened and worse the next day, but at least 72 hours later it was lovely and with only the slightest hint of oxidisation and a little murky from no decant.
After my first bottle of this i made a sangria with one bottle, a red wine reduction with another and tried to flog one to my wine swilling bro, OMG what have i done, i have one bottle of the 09 left and won't be touching it for at least the next 30 years.
Sorry Ron for bagging your wine.
Thoughts about what happened to the wine in 72 hours opened sitting on a bench?
An apology to Ron Laughton.

An apology to Ron Laughton.
"It all tastes like Grange after 2 bottles"

Palate variation!

Your appology is not as good as mongheads.
I think you should add all the naughty words you used.

I've seen some of the current vintages for as low as $20 per bottle in the US. Might have to try one.

Wine is a funny thing.
When not drinking a fine red, I'm a cardboard claret man!
