Which beer is perfect for the first time drinkers?

I am asking this question here as, people who are sipping the beer for the first time don't understand the taste and they feel very bitterness. It is always good to identify the beer with better taste for the very first time.

I'd go something like an Amber Ale which has a sweeter/caramel front palate and is not as bitter.

Corona (without lemon or lime wedges!) I can reluctantly agree with but that travesty of a beer, Barefoot Radler, with it's disgusting fake lemon flavour, never!! It's the worst beer I've ever tried, including the SA crap that was imported to Qld during the brewery workers' strike 35 or so years ago.

Crown Lager may be suit as an introductory beer. It is in all reality, rather innocuous and inoffensive swill but a bit more like real beer than Corona FFS.

Corona is definitely not the way to go, agree with Daz.
Even the Mexicans laugh at how this is such a popular export.

If you want to introduce someone to beer, and want something mild and clean…maybe Asahi
However I think you should do them a favour and start with something quality and affordable like Bogues.
If you’re feeling like some wicked amusement, get them on the pints of stella.

Alternatively, if you can find it, a proper pint of Guinness. Granted Stout’s not for the day trippers but its never too early to learn how to love it

I'd have to agree that the Barefoot Radler is a woeful drink - I am reluctant to call it beer as it really isn't. Appropriately enough, I shared a 6 pack of this on a balmy evening in Surfers Paradise a few months back and I could barely finish 1 of them.

I'd be happy for a Corona on any given hot day though - although my current house beer of the summer is the James Squire Golden Ale. Very easy to drink but a decent beer as well!

I should clarify that I'm not a fan of the Radler as a beer, but do think it's a reasonable light option for someone who doesn't want a 'bitter' flavor.

I stand by Corona though - also Hoegaarden is another decent option.

I find if i am at a pub for a big session on a hot day that the Golden gets a bit hard to drink after a couple pints so i switch to their Sundown lager for a couple pints and then go back to the Golden.
Backwards and forwards all day.
The two beers balance each other out really well and stop the overwhelming bitterness that can stick to your tongue when on a bender.

For those of you that like a good beer, a brewing friend of mine put me on to Fat Yak, (as mentioned above). You should have a taste of this eother on tap or in a stubbie.
It's a good drop too.

You lot are heathens when it comes to beer, but that's ok I'm a heathen when it comes to wine, but recommending Corona??? Would you drink cask wine? The fact you need to add lime to it to make it drinkable should tell you that it's CP.

And I can't believe not one of you winos mentioned Saltram's, it's got red wine in it!

The Belgians make the best beer for wine drinkers but they are too challenging for a new drinker.

And I stand by saying drink German beer if you're a new drinker. Trouble is you can't get good German beer here

Seriously, just about any beer would be fine to start on. Make sure you force yourself to have at least 2, and if you still don't like it, move on.

Being a little more than a stones throw from Mexico I'd go with a Corona AND lime esp if you want something to drink with the Southern California version of Mexican food. And it certainly does not taste bitter with that squeeze of lime. Labatt's Blue (Canada) would be another that, at least to me, does not have pronounced bitterness.

Guinness would also do, but its really food and needs to be poured slowly in an Irish pub. But if you want something that will give real pleasure then a Trappistes Rochefort 6, 8 or 10 would be the way to go - best beer I've had.

Who would have thought Corona would polarise the forum, very enjoyable thread this, maybe I need to re-assess my views on bots!

Having re-read my post, you’d think I’d be able to spell Boags correctly given how much I enjoy it!

To be honest I’d drink anything now that Qatar and Russia are to host a World Cup .
I knew the system was brutally corrupt, but this feels like a whole new level.
I imagine the Panoramas of this world are licking their lips at the scandals that will inevitably come.
What price Somalia 2026....?
