I recently opened a bottle of 1996 Wynns Black Lable. Immediately a foul smell hit my olfactory senses. Bloody corked bottle I muttered to myself. I was really looking forward to it as I had not opened one in more than 6 months. This was my first bad bottle out of 6. Luckily I still have 6 more.
Next day I sent an email describing what happened. Within an hour Sparky was on my mobile asking for details. I was very pleasantly surprised by this super quick response. She was very sympathetic and asked if I would mind sending them the bottle. Several days later the package arrived to put the offending bottle in.
Sparky was very apologetic that she only had access to current stock to replace my bottle but she would include another bottle to smooth the loss. A few days later there was a parcel with the 2008 B/L and also a 2008 V&A Lane Shiraz Cabernet. Both, of course, in screwcap.
Thank you Sparky and Wynns for a very quick and pleasant outcome.
Mike.
PS - To give an idea of how bad the bottle was, the boffins found 1824 ppt of TCA. I was told that sometimes people can detect very low numbers like 2-5 ppt. Not surprising it stank.
Thank you Sparky and Wynns.

Re: Thank you Sparky and Wynns.
Great stuff Mike,
I had a similar experience recently with a bottle of Seppelts (another Fosters child). Results for the test came back with 69ppm, they replaced the bottle (00 St Peters) with the current vintage and also threw in a bottle of the 08 Pinot Gris.
Excellent work Fosters
