Red Ochre restaurant - Adelaide (Thumbs Down)

Post by markg »

Lovely views of the torrens and parks, nice looking 5 star restaurant with overrated food. Entree was absolute rubbish, I could have handled the arty farty little morsels of food on a massive plate if they had actually tasted nice, but they were limp and boring. The main dish was Barramundi seeped in coriander, ok if you like to taste only coriander !

To add insult to injury they had a crap wine list. Looks like they ordered straight from the reps suggestions. Sure they had a small selection of premium wine, but as soon as I saw a 1999 Rockford Basket press for $175 I knew somebody was taking the piss. All in all, I couldn't wait to politely leave the place.
Cheers

Is this Red Ochre related to the Red Ochre in Cairns? (The one in Cairns features bush food and game I think)

Could be - This one had 'wattle this' and 'gum that' in the foods. Very bush tucker flavour about the place - Actually the bread was nice if nothing else.

Hi
Been there long time ago. Did like it then. Had a kangaroo with signature cab shiraz '92. Prices were decent then...
