TN: 99 Domaine Serene Evanstadd Reserve Pinot Noir

Post by Cables »

I opened a bottle of the 99 Evanstadd Reserve last night and decantered for 1 hour prior to drinking.

Color was deep ruby red.

Initial nose was of sweet cherry and red berries with a hint of cinamon.
Classic Pinot "cherry" aromas.

The taste was sublime. A beautiful medium weight Pinot that could be best
described as silky. A taste of blackberry, boysenberrries that was well
balanced that extended to a lingering after taste for ages. You could taste raspberries, cherries, pepper and black olives. Fabulous luscious fruit. There is plenty of life (acid) and fruit left in this wine to last for at least another 3-5 years. I'll open the next one for Valentines day and then wait another year before the next.

This was by far the best Pinot I have tasted.
I don't recall having tasted anything from either Aus or NZ that comes close to this Oregon wine and would be interested in comments from anyone who has compared this wine to some of the best French or the Bass Phillip Reserve.

Overall rating was Excellent bordering on Outstanding.
:D

I bought it through Pinotnow.com.au and it currently sells at $140, I paid a little less a while ago.
