Fwiw I had the 92 Black Shiraz there a couple of years ago, nice wines and great fun to drink but both mags had past their prime, that 92 BP sounds right in its window however.
Keen to hear your feedback on the SoE Remus (& Romulus), did you taste?... how do you rate against previous vintages??
Thanks
Michael
Michael,
Sorry about the '92 Black! They are very good when on song.
In regards to SoE, first time for me tasting these wines so cannot compare them to previous vintages (could not believe they have been around since 2002!!). Anyway, both the Remus and Romulus were very good wines. However, the Remus was my favourite, elegant Eden valley fruit ... like drinking silk ... but still has that balance of power just under the surface. Beautiful. The Romulus was also very good, but I have too many big Barossa shiraz's in my cellar already. The Remus was a nice change.
Thanks Andrew!
I'm a fan of both the wines, and given the 2012 vintages reports have them pegged for purchase.

Nice list!
If you have had one of these recently or are planning to open one soon, I'd be interested to know how it's traveling.
Thanks
Dan
Hi Dan
I opened a magnum of it a couple of months ago. Popped and poured practically. A late night poor decision fuelled by booze and thirsty friends....Very nice wine, but needed plenty of airtime as you would expect.
Mark AS (sometime poster here) brought another magnum of it to a xmas party last December, cant remember how he prepared it but it showed better than mine!

12 x Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy 2012 GMH Shiraz
Duty free on way back from UK an Oban 14YO single malt (my favourite so far and a Laphroaig Quarter Cask single malt. Still learning about this style but not convinced about the peaty stuff. May need to try some more.
It's like a single malt made in a bushfire.
It's great to see 2 excellent SA/VIC vintages so close together 10 and 12. Hopefully it will help thin out the current glut of wines around.
Wandering down to McLaren Vale today for Geoff's Tractor Shed Sale. Some pretty good wines by the case.

Hey Travis,
Bumped into Bryan Martin at the Rootstock event earlier in the year at Carriageworks (Sydney). Knowing of his Clonakilla exploits we had a good chat to him about his own label. All wines of his were very approachable and had great structure and beautifully integrated tannin - had the Sangiovese last week at another event and it was drinking superbly. I had been meaning to get some and Gavin had stock at excellent prices, so jumped in.
Cloudburst was at Rootstock also, I hadn't heard of them at that point in time, so missed them, and it seemed people were giving it a wide berth. Would be great to go back in time and have a crack at the lauded Cab that they produce.
Thanks pc79, two Friday nights ago my parents and I saw Bryan speak at the Commenwealth Club here in Canberra. A sold out dinner with six wines, over 80 people there. SUCH a nice guy! I never thought I would say it but the wine I liked the most was the... Pinot Gris. Eeek! That and the 7 months on Lees Natural wine, a blend of Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer and Chardonnay. Stunning! My folks and I split two cases direct from the winery. I believe the 7 Months is only available online from the winery. At $40 it ain't cheap but it is fantastic. Limit of three. Hoovered up a few of the 2013 SV as well. It's sold out all around town.
Cheers, Travis.

Thanks for the info, it's probably a good thing it's sold out...I can cross it off my ever expanding list!

Hey all - lurker here finally making a post. Just staring developing a little stash of wine for the future, finding it highly addictive though!
This month:
1x 2012 Bass Phillip Estate Pinot Noir
2x 2011 By Farr Farrside Pinot Noir
6x 2012 By Farr Farrside Pinot Noir
2x 2011 By Farr Sangreal Pinot Noir
4x 2012 By Farr Sangreal Pinot Noir
2x 2011 Curly Flat Pinot Noir
5x 2013 Hoddles Creek Pinot Noir

Then I thought I should balance it out a bit:

2x 2012 Grosset Springvale Riesling
6x 2012 Mesh Riesling (good deal going at present)

For now drinking:

The artwork on that bottle is gold. Have also grabbed some for summer drinking. So good
The SV 13 is going to be awesome in the longer term. It's a great wine.

2x 2014 Ravensworth Riesling
3x Unico Zelo 2014 Muscat D'Alessandria
2x Unico Zelo 2014 Fiano

12 x Grosset Gaia 2010 by far my favourite Australian Cabernet blend
12 x Faiveley NSG Les St Georges 2010 gotta stop buying this stuff, but it is just so good. Gone thru two cases already, this one goes into the cellar
12 x Faiveley Corton Clos des Cortons 2010 ditto, my third case of this grrr
12 x L'Eglise Clinet 2008 still a bargain buy and only a fraction behind the 09 IMO.
12 x Montrose 2009 over-priced but not over-hyped. A great wine.
won't be any further acquisitions until next year, or until my will-power gives up, which may be as soon as next week hehe
