Totally forgot about this, it will be better if ease the numbers a little bit for you as I really haven't planned this anyway nor told the wife about it (uh oh!).

I will instead nostalgically enjoy the scenery of (and maybe a glass or two of) Beaujolais in Le Tour.

They will pass straight through Fleurie, Morgon and right by the Cote de Brouilly that night...

What the heck, but you're the last! That makes an even dozen.
6.45 for 7pm. Cost works out to be in the vicinity of $100-110 per head incl tip. Wotcha bringin'?

That should be okay. 90% certain I can make it, however I am currently trying to finish a research paper and submit it to a journal over the next few days, so I can't say I'm in 100% for sure just yet. May have a clearer idea over the next few days.

If all goes ahead I'll bring a 1997 Wendouree Shiraz.

I have been trying to get a mate along to this dinner and he finally said he could make it. He is a gregarious bloke with a large impressive cellar and will be great company - named Wisey.

Would you believe it ended up landing completely upright on its edge? :)

If I can make it down to the offsite storage on Wednesday I will probably bring both, otherwise just the 07A

Ok gentlemen (shame there are no ladies to keep decorum) booking confirmed upstairs at Cafe Lyon for Thursday night @ 6.45pm.

http://www.cafelyon.com.au/

366 Pacific Hwy, Lindfield, opposite Lindfield train station. We are supplied two glasses each, but if you wish to bring an extra stem to keep up with the wines please do so.

I'm excited! :)

Cheers,

Excellent!

Now, I will definitely be bringing the wendouree cab malbec. Last time I decanted this 2 hours and thought it could have used more. Any views on what I should be doing here? I will be coming from work. Decant it for an hour or something in my decanter at work and then back into the bottle?

I would just bring the zalto decanter full of wine but the prospects of spillage is too scary

You can decant it for a few hours in a decanter and back into the bottle...

Or you can slow O it from the morning....

Yep, good one. I will see how organised I am and do one or the other.

Quite pumped, sounds like the food there is very good too, looking forward to trying somewhere new. I don't venture onto the north side very much.

The longer opened the better for the Wendouree, and I am pleased you are bringing the Cab/malbec! Hopefully it will justify my latest 2012 Wendouree order of a doz cab/malbecs*

*presumptious comment - that's assuming I'll be allocated any :?

Hopefully the northside will impress you Scott!

Dave, thanks for organizing.
Looking forward to trying Café Lyon
I think I’ll get a Standish shiraz – probably the ’03 Standish.

Change of wines for me, will now be bringing a 2003 Wendouree Shiraz. Level on the '97 wasn't thaaaat great and don't want to risk bringing a dud. The 2003 should be right in the beginning of its optimal drinking window, and by the sounds of it we can stack it up against the Standish. :D

Wisey has dug out either a '97 or '98 Coleraine - can't remember which year he said.

Well, I was going to bring the 98 Cab Malbec and the 07 Bin 07A, but in my daze this morning (thanks youngest son for waking me up at 5am) I forgot to bring the 07A. Might be best for all of our Friday mornings anyhow.

Will pop the cork on the wendouree shortly and let it start bottle breathing. Provided I can stop myself drinking it at lunchtime with a sandwich, I will see you guys at 6:45 :D

Not bad for a cork with 14 or so years on it

Meanwhile, one of my colleagues walked past and saw me pulling the cork. There was an awkward moment's silence followed by a 'Everything ok?' query
