Hi all,
Well, whilst we aren't 100% certain, it's looking like all has gone well, and we'll be able to come. My plus 2 will be bringing a Crabtree 1995 Cabernet/Shiraz blend and a good white as well.

Sorry to hear that Adrian - maybe at the next offline with Franco we'll catch up.
Neville (Eurocentric) has had to drop out too as he's heading back east earlier than expected.
Cheers,
Ian

Sooooooo... that looks like about 1.6 bottles per person. Just might take Friday off. I don't get hangovers but this should be a good test.

Not this time. The venue should be supplying us with 4 glasses each.

After much thought I'd decided to raid the cellar for something nice and old... only to find that my old man has locked it, probably accidentally, and I can't get in touch with him to find out where the keys are.
Fortunately, Mr. Murphy doesn't lock his cellar and has provided a 1997 Cullen cabernet merlot which is now blowing off stink in the decanter.
See you tonight!

Been a busy week - I'm hoping to get something finished & up before the end of the weekend (along with impressions of the Eurocentric dinner last Tuesday). Another dozen or so pinots to try Monday night too - seems like there's no rest for the wicked!

For now you'll have to do with the emoticon rating system:
1999 Pol Roger Champagne Extra Cuvée de Réserve Brut

1998 Leo Buring Leonay Riesling magnum, Eden Valley

1999 Coldstream Hills Chardonnay magnum, Yarra Valley

2007 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Montmains (screwcap)

1996 Mount Pleasant Wines Lovedale Semillon, Hunter Valley

1998 Camus Père & Fils Chambertin Grand Cru

2003 Portree Vineyard Pinot Noir, Macedon

2007 Wente Vineyards Reliz Creek Pinot Noir, Arroyo Seco

1998 Andraos Bros Olde Winilba Grandfather’s Reserve Shiraz, Sunbury

1998 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz, Barossa Valley

2000 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro, Clare Valley

1998 James Irvine Grand Merlot, Eden Valley

1997 Cullen Cabernet Merlot, Margaret River

1990 Lindemans Sesquicentenary Cabernet Sauvignon magnum, Coonawarra:

1998 Orlando St. Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

1999 Orlando St. Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

1991 Chais Grand Vin de Gironde, Sauternes

1990 Chateau Reynella Vintage Port, McLaren Vale

Cheers,
Ian

Re: Adelaide Offline Thursday 24th June @ The Alehouse: BOOK
Thanks all for your warm welcome. A great night of fine food wine and conversation. The line up of wines was awesome and introduced me to some new styles. My favourites from a high class list were:
1998 St Hugo. Just goes to show what ideal cellaring can do. Compared to a recent one from my passive undergroung cellar it was still a pup with primary fruit galore. Thanks Josh.
1999 St Hugo. Just goes to show how 1999 has suffered coming on the heals of 1998. Much like 1991 and 1990. I really liked this wine.
1998 Rockford Basket Press. Perfect example of this wine.
Leonay Riesling (magnum). Very nice indeed. Years to go
1999 Coldstream Hills Chardy (magnum). Not a modern style but right up my alley. Oaky but with excellent fruit to match.
Couldn't get with the french stuff but I seem to be alone on this. Still, there's plenty of other stuff to enjoy.
A tad dissappointed in my Lindemans 150th Cabernet. I was expecting more and couldn't pick any faults.

I didn't take notes but would like to thank all those present for making my first offline very enjoyable. It was something of a daunting experience to front up to a room full of strangers with nothing but a bottle of wine and high hopes for a pleasant evening, but thoroughly enjoyed myself. See you at the next one.
